New Jersey flips red? Mikie Sherrill’s gubernatorial campaign is imploding
Washington Examiner ^ | October 4, 2025 2:00 pm | Joe Concha

As the old saying goes, “it’s not how you start, but how you finish.” In the case of the gubernatorial race between Democrat Mikie Sherrill and Republican Jack Ciattarelli in New Jersey, it’s Ciattarelli who has all the momentum as we head into the home stretch.

Quantus Polling, which was the most accurate of the 2024 presidential election, nailing the exact number of electoral votes President Donald Trump would receive (312), shows Sherrill and Ciattarelli in a dead heat. That same polling firm showed Sherrill with a 10-point lead back in early September. Emerson’s most recent poll also has the candidates tied.

So why is the race tightening? Three factors are in play, and none are good for Sherill.

First, Sherrill had a patently horrible debate against Ciattarelli last month, with the lowlight coming when Sherrill, after voting for a House resolution honoring Charlie Kirk‘s legacy, proceeded to lie about the slain activist while dumping on his memory in one of the most disgusting displays we’ve seen out of any politician lately.

“Charlie Kirk was advocating for a Christian nationalist government and to roll back the rights of women and Black people — this flies in the face of every value I hold dear and that I fight for,” she declared.

Roll back the rights for women and Black people? When did he even remotely advocate for anything like that? She said this just one week after Charlie was executed in front of his family. She then took the opportunity to criticize Trump.

“On one hand, he denounced Kirk’s politically motivated killing, while on the other hand, he is instigating a witch hunt worthy of Joseph McCarthy to shut down the free speech rights of anyone who disagrees with Kirk’s racist,...”

As the old saying goes, “it’s not how you start, but how you finish.”

Or as I prefer, “Fortune strums a mournful tune, for those whose campaigns peak too soon.”

The Republican candidate damned near won it last time. Hopefully he can pull it off this time. Certainly Millie has given him every opportunity to gain points

In Paterson and Newark and Camden they keep counting until the Democrat wins.

Thanks for playing “democracy”.

It's not too late to substitute Frank Lautenberg for Governor.

Her campaign peaked on the day she announced and its been downhill from there. Her debate performance was awful. Ciatarelli has been landing punishing body blows with brief but powerful media ads.

Jack “lost” to Shill Murphy only after the mail-in ballots were counted after election day.

Jack has been pounding the pavement throughout the Garden State hitting events, and every diner that exists. If you know anything about NJ, this is how you connect.

He will win this going away. It won’t be close.

Early on in this race, Mikie was dubbed “Vanilla Harris”, and it has stuff.

From you lips to God’s ears. And yes, I was remiss in not stating that the election was stolen. Ciattarelli actually won

The Dem leads by 8%.
Even a big drop means she will be cheered by supporters and Mamdani at a close victory on election night.

1/2 % or 1% still means a Dem victory.

Just enough votes will be “found” in Newark for the Dem to win.

I don’t know if her campaign is imploding but I am seeing non-stop attack ads on Cittarelli. So she’s still dumping a lot of money into that.
