They’re still fighting using the last war methods.
No Tanks for no tanks
One of the dozens of modules for the Patria:

All 8,500 vehicles are modern and proven. They are modular in design allowing for multiple configurations. Several modules are anti-drone...not the little anti-personnel drones, but the ones that are big enough to take out an armored vehicle.
This is a well thought purchase and it should have been doubled.
After this purchase, where Germany is weakest is stealth air power. We need to know what they’re gonna do about that.
Replace a machine gun with an auto-aim shotgun for drones.

Surprise Surprize...

Elsewhere, one can read that Germany is nearly BANKRUPT, having overspent their budget in SO many ways, but they believe they still have a very productive workforce.
Okay, I may have done some time-traveling or something while I was napping on the couch. Is this 2025 or 1925 - again?

The day of the tank passed long, long ago.
My dad was a TC back in the 60s.
I recently started with an RC M60 tank which came with its share of minor frustrations but fun to operate. Gorilla Glue and Loctite are definitely needed plus some patience. The electronics are a little flaky as well.
There were two or three M60 kits out there and I got the desert model. It looks good on camera. The Go Pro macro attachment does very well. The camera and tank held up better than me in 100 degree heat.
I did almost no post with photos apart from cropping or minor levels and mostly bumped the saturation up a lot in Final Cut for video.
I’d like to see an RC Sheridan. Despite the problems and shortcomings of the real Sheridan tank, I always liked the look.
Bring back the 88 but in miniature.
I recently watched a video about one Merkava Tank killing over 200 terrorists.
Sooner or later I plan to get that RC tank kit.
Good looking tank.
Germany is also planning to order 1,000 new Leopard II Main Battle Tanks, pending final approval through their Legislature this session (expected within two months).
They also have drone production agreements with Ukraine.
Poland is already two years into their big Defense buildup, which also includes 1,000 new Main Battle Tanks, mostly from South Korean factories. Poland has already been receiving deliveries, and standing up new Armored and Mechanized units.
When the Soviet Union dissolved in 1991, The German Bundeswehr could field 36 combat ready maneuver Brigades. Today, it is debatable if they could field 3. The new Defense program initiated under Trump, Merz and NATO’s new war plans against Russia, put Germany on track to pace or exceed Russian production of Armored vehicles (and a few other categories of war materiel) for the remainder of President Trump’s term in office.
The problem with shooting a drone is that it is like shooting a butterfly with a .22. You need canister shot.

Enemy forces Russia and North Korea are both fighting in Europe and both are accelerating tank production, with Russia shooting for huge future numbers.
I wouldn’t want to be a tanker going against the waves of drones.
Tanks are nice things to have and are still useful.
