Russia transferred 1,000 bodies of fallen troops to Ukraine and received 19 bodies of its combatants in return, Russian presidential aide and the head of the Russian delegation in negotiations with Ukraine Vladimir Medinsky announced via Telegram on Thursday.
The exchange was carried out in accordance with the agreement reached between Moscow and Kiev in Istanbul on June 2.
Additionally, a large-scale body swap was also conducted last month when Russia returned 1,212 bodies of Ukrainian troops who lost their lives during the hostilities.

OTD in 2014, MH17 was shot down with a BUK system the Russian supported "rebels" suddenly denied they had admitted having.
Here's a history of Russian MH17 propaganda. Its called fire-hose propaganda- so many different stories are floated, not to disprove something, but it is done so you believe nothing. And more importantly, do nothing

What does Russia tell the families of the soldiers it cremates? That they are simply missing (implying possibly deserted?) and no payments for being killed in battle are coming to them? Seems cold to do that.
Large numbers of Russian troops are left to rot on the battle field. This allows Moscow to minimize their numbers for propaganda purposes, avoid paying the families of the dead mandated government benefits.
There are videos of dead Russian soldiers on X rotting in their trenches, sprawled along roads, etc all along the front lines. The Russian policy of forced suicidal “meat charges” with back up cadres to shoot any soldier who retreats back to the Russian lines supersizes these numbers.

And, Zeepers want us to believe that isn't a good indication of how great the kill rate in this war is in Russia's favor?
Several days later, The Economist made its own calculation using the severely-wounded-to-killed ratio from leaked documents by the United States Department of Defense, giving an estimate of between 462,000 and 728,000 Russian soldiers killed or wounded since the start of the conflict. According to their estimate, approximately 2% of all Russian men between the ages of 20 and 50 may have been killed or seriously wounded in Ukraine since February 2022.[85] By the end of 2024, Meduza estimated that over 165,000 Russian soldiers had died during the war.[86]
Only an idiot would take that as an indicator of comparative “kill rates”. It is more likely the result of the amount of territory Russia has slowly taken in recent months (at a cost of 1,300 casualties per day). As such, many, many more dead Russian soldiers/cannon fodder lay on territory control by their own orc army than on Ukrainian-controlled ground they are defending.
Only idiot doesn't realize the kill ratio is overwhelmingly in Russia's favor.
But, you are an idiot.
