Jim Beam is a Kentucky Distillery and get this...its a subsidiary of a Japanese beverage company.
Hows that for...
Want an eye opener?
Just google Kentucky Distilleries.
There are LOTS, of Distilleries in that state.
No problem.
Thats a very nice web site.
Thanx.
I aint a bourbon drinker. Yuck!
I aint a Scotch drinker either. If i want to partake in the consumption of wall paper paste tasting spirits, i will make my own.
The problem was exemplified by the 2020 mandate that all Americans had to wear a surgical (filtering) mask as a first line of defense against Covid — but because of outsourcing and globalism, they realized China made all the masks.
Then the problem arose again with the Russian-Ukraine war— when it became apparent that Russia was basically self-sufficient — while Ukraine was totally dependent on the contributions from other countries.
That is the argument for subsidizing a nation’s own diversity and becoming self-sufficient (reliant) — instead of any other country that has all the production of the valued commodities (resources) of the moment.
You don’t want all your ships and planes made in another superpower. It is worthwhile to subsidize your own industry to some extent — instead of sending all that money and aid elsewhere to be wasted and stolen anyway.
“It’s not over, and I really do believe he needs to have a serious talk with us.”
I had my say in late October.
Hopefully, I’ll have my way.
Congress needs to help Trump and not block the possible annual flow of about $1 trillion into American working class bank accounts Trump is working hard to make happen.
However, their labor cost are much less than America’s, so Vietnam will still have a cost advantage over us.
Those products can’t get from there to here for free.
i don’t have a problem with reciprocity, except in certain cases, such as Russia and Red China. I’m happy to tariff those enemies to the tune of 25% to 50%, a security premium on their goods, if you will.
Red China deserves at least 50% for their malicious act of unleashing the Wu Flu upon the world by allowing Chinese expats to travel back to other countries, even as they sealed off travel to and from Wuhan Province.
We don’t need to be protected from free trade, per se. We DO need to be protected from malicious actors.
If that statement were true then it also would be a lie (because VDH himself is part of "anyone").
I must confess if around leftists I intentionally trigger them with phrases to see their crazy eyes, and veins bulging from their necks and spittle fly. It’s very amusing but Macabre, of course because it indicates destruction of the neighborhood.
If Trump is successful, Social Security will not have to make old age benefit cuts.
Wish him well, your future lifestyle might depend on his efforts.
Anyway. They’ll purchase it no matter.
I used to go over to the UK quite often. I cant tell you how many times i saw the Brits getting on planes at the airport returning to the UK frim here and they had the max they could take in their carry ons. Dont remember hiw many fiths they could take but..
I watched them purchase Bud beer in cans from the USA at pubs. When i asked why the hell when you got very fine beers here why would you buy that shit. The answer was always...its less than half in price.
Last time i was over there was 2003 or so. Have no idea if its the same but i suspect that Bud light was transferred to there to cover some of the loses here.
Bkmk
“Nobody [in my social circle] goes there anymore, it’s too crowded.”
I actually looked up a few of the numbers that Trump had as the equivalent percentage of tariffs + trade barriers that other countries had against us. I did this after Fernando Aguirre (Ferfal) asserted the same thing that Sequoyah101 did in one of his Youtube videos. I ran some calculations. Those percentages are actually the 2024 trade deficits divided by the total values of imports for that year. They are not the tariffs and trade barriers.
So Trump comes off as looking generous by seemingly imposing half the tariffs on the countries as they are supposedly imposing on us. However, it’s actually a damned lie. He did not have to deceive us like that.
I enjoyed birra in Italy. I liked Peroni the best.
It was 1.39 Euros for about 3/4ths of a liter.
“trade deficits”
“They are not the tariffs and trade barriers.”
It’s always about the Benjamins.
LOL, I read your post as “George Carlin” until I put my glasses on - and I thought maybe it was Carlin’s ghost that has TDS.
Now I see it’s Dan Carlin. Love his podcasts but they go on WAY way too long. Have to listen to them in shorter bursts...And, too bad about TDS.
