Normally I would be in complete agreement there, but if we factor in that these 3 dozen employees are getting access specifically restored to come into a building that is being prepared to be taken over by a completely different department, I just don’t find it that alarming, especially (if true) that the documents are paper copied printed that are in safes and people desk drawers and file cabinets.

It does sound like a sound security process to me, assuming these are all paper copies...but I would think they risk losing something that may have legal value if there are handwritten notes written on paper copies, that kind of thing.

I think suspicion is healthy with anything having to do with USAID, but this may be a legitimate operation in that light.

This gets to an earlier point I made about Rubio. He thought DOGE’s work on USAID and those taking voluntary separation within State made for enough house cleaning on his part.

But all the traitorous, Marxist globalists, including within the CIA, remain. That Rubio didn’t see a need to do much more is to me worrisome.

If I were part of the Trump Administration, I would not shred and burn outright these things they collect. And I wouldn’t have USAID people doing it on their own, either.

I would have teams of two (six dozen people) one USAID person to show where documents are, and one trustworthy person paired with them to help collect and tag the documents. They should be catalogued as if it were a crime scene, and taken to a secure location where the documents could be examined and compared with the electronic copy.

If any documents have no corresponding electronic copy, or have handwritten notes on them, attached stickies, or paper-clipped pages of additional documentation, those should be catalogued and stored in a secure location for further analysis in legal actions.

Does any organization still use paper documents? I retired seven years ago and, for the preceding ten or 20 years, everything was paperless (depending on which company I was working for).

All of our contracts were drafted from templates, customized to the job and customer, went through multiple revisions, reviewed and approved by our execs electronically and sent to the customer electronically. The customer would sign electronically and return the contract to us. Only rarely was something printed out and handled on paper. Even then, we scanned and digitized the contract and stored it electronically.

So I’m puzzled about all this talk about shredding and burning. Is the government that far behind?

I say treat the whole thing like a crime scene, not simply like an office space being cleared out for another company to move in!

Parts of the government are antiquated for sure.

That may be part of the confusion on this topic.

You wrote “It does sound like a sound security process to me”

But if that is true, then Carr sure did handle it clumsily. She should have cited the regs, provided procedures to determine what should be archived and what should be destroyed, provided some context to he order (e.g., “new tenant moving in”).Just saying “burn and shred everything” raises eyebrows.

The government is bigger on process than any other organization in the country. It is the veritable definition of bureaucracy. It no doubt has security regs governing this. She could have cited those regs and provided some rationale for her order.

Another possibility is that Carr may not have wanted to expose the names of Afghan women who have participated in the many USAID programs there. They could be marked by the Taliban for execution. It’s a long shot, but there might be copies of documents from the field office in DC. Here’s a summary of USAID involvement with women in Afghanistan.

“Promote” program (2015–2020) trained 25,000 women in leadership, provided 3,000 civil service internships, and supported women-owned businesses for political and economic roles.

Supported women in agriculture via Afghanistan Value Chains Program (2018–2025), Women’s Agricultural Credit Shura, and “DASTYAR” toolkit (2019) for business development in sectors like carpets and jewelry.

Increased access for 3 million girls since 2008 (39% of 9.5 million students by 2020), funded 11,500 teacher training scholarships, and supported 171,000 students (over half girls) in community classes, but 2025 funding cuts impacted Women’s Scholarship Endowment (2018).

Trained female healthcare workers to improve maternal/child health and enhanced women’s access to social protection, water, sanitation, and hygiene services.

Committed $30 million via UN Women (2022) to support gender equality, social services, women-led organizations, and female human rights defenders/journalists facing Taliban threats.

Provided $1.5 billion in aid post-2021 Taliban takeover, focusing on women/girls for food, health, and livelihoods, addressing returnees and disaster-affected communities.

Faced challenges from Taliban restrictions on women’s rights since 2021, 2025 aid suspension halting programs like secret schools, and misinformation on X falsely linking USAID to gender training for Taliban or transgender issues.

I am guessing she was told what to do to accommodate the Border Patrol personnel who will begin flooding into the building soon, and it was simply clumsily carried out, as you say.

Eyes are watching this, and a lot of those (mine included) are cynical and unforgiving, for good reason.

Hell, the Biden Adminstration probably put those names from USAID on a fast track to the Taliban even before that shameful pull out.

But sure, that is a possibility.

This was interesting, because I was in the process of putting on the war paint, but...something didn’t make sense to me.

The story didn’t seem quite right, and the people saying the Acting Director who sent the email was a Trump appointee just did not fit, so it forced me to read the stories two deep (Gateway Pundit and the links to Politico, which I rarely visit) and when I read them, I had to wipe off the war paint I had already smeared on my face!

Same. I was outraged and at the sane time confused by the reports. It benefits all of us to have someone like you willing to do the leg work to find the truth. Thank you!
