I’d assume churches and the press are pretty much equivalent first amendment entities. Of course, NGOs have exteremely bent the concept of separation of church and state in the immigration assault on the republic.

I remember long ago, while in H.S. and in college, that teachers/professors talked about the U.S. being really composed of 4 branches of government: the executive, the legislature, the supreme court, and the PRESS.

Long ago, the democrats recognized the need to turn the press into their messaging arm. So, the biased press was born, but mostly shilling for the left-wing politicians.

Democrats also managed to convert the education system into another arm of their party, and so, most people who go through the democrat-controlled education system (including journalism schools), come out parroting the democratic party's talking points.

The legacy media repeating the same story with the same spin is nothing new and predates USAID. In the 1950s, the predecessors of the current legacy media repeated the same line on attacking anti-Communists like Joseph McCarthy and Martin Dies, pushing cooperation with Communist countries, opposing Southern segregation, and promoting the sexual revolution, among other narratives.
