Now they can build a winery there. Grow Syrah grapes.

The media will focus on this little slip of land instead of the rest of Syria.

Drove through there on the way back from hiking Tel Dan (archeology site and nature preserve) - drove past a couple of pre-positioned equipment yards - artillery, tanks, APCs all under tarps.
I mean, you can't really hide anything there - it's pretty open.
DID NOT get out of the car and look around, though.

Did you tour Nimrod’s Castle? It is an amazing story...

Would have been nice, but we didn't have a ton of time. I was working at an air base there five days a week and one can only see so much on the weekends (Friday and Saturday).
I was renting an old Volvo so mostly did self-guided tours - I may have missed a lot of things, but wound up seeing some things one wouldn't see on a guided tour (for better or worse).

Israel will probably immediately set up logistics to bring in food and fuel to the new territory so as to keep the residents happy. If so, it will rapidly become a free trade zone as the logistics supporting the rest of the country are probably nonexistent. I would not be surprised if Israel employs the residents and pay them in shekels. Very rapidly, shekels will be the currency for the whole area.

I wouldn't be surprised if those living in the Israeli-occupied zone are fairly swiftly bought out and replaced by those from the rest of the country who know they'd be safer under Israeli control...

"Benjamin Netanyahu said he had ordered the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) to enter the buffer zone and "commanding positions nearby" from the Israeli-occupied part of the Golan."They ain't leavin', either. Ever.

Also includes taking the previous Syria Army base on Mount Hermon at around 2800 meters elevation (over 9000 feet).

So Israel gets to have it for a long time. At least until Syria becomes a functioning democracy (which is never).

Aside from Quneitra it appears from the map that the Israelis now occupy the strategic mountains sector to the very north. Good move.
