What click bait - ICBMs have always been “hypersonic” at some point in descent. Real US air launched hypersonic missiles are still in the prototype stage.

We have to correct the narrative here. The term Hypersonic Missile is being used to drum up fear like this missile is something new and more scary.

The term Hypersonic Missile has been coined in just the last few years to refer to very advanced weapons like scramjet missiles that can travel and steer at the upper edges of the atmosphere at absurdly high speeds making them able to move fast and change directions on the way to a target.

A Minuteman is more properly called an old school intercontinental ballistic missile.

It’s important that we use correct terms and don’t lead people to think the test is something that it isn’t.

Start calling everything the “Hypersonic” buzzword and we won’t have any idea what kind of missile was used.

Idiot headline. The Minuteman III is an ICBM. They were and are not classified as "hypersonic missiles" in the contemporary sense although the RVs have always been hypersonic.
