America should’ve never left Afghanistan... You still have bases in Japan and Germany for a reason... So you can control them. Leave Japan and Germany and they’d be right back to their old ways... Just like the Taliban.

And it’s in Oklahoma. Big thanks to that grandstanding jackass MarkWayne Mullin. He worked as hard as he could to bring in all the Afghans he could. He even went over there personally.

We never had a clear mission goal in Afghanistan. Chasing down the Taliban was one thing... “changing hearts and minds” is not a recipe for any kind of “victory”.
Unless we are in it to gain land or direct control over resources, yes... literally Empire building, we should stay out of “policing actions”.
It is NOT what our Military should be designed to do.
Maybe Canada should have taken over the whole thing in Afghanistan. There is no critical US interest there.... none.

After WW2, the allies spent a lot of time de-nazifying Germany. Identifying the bad guys, making Germans see what was done that many denied knowledge of. Why a similar TAC was not done in Afghanistan is beyond me. Many were afraid of such a tactic being discriminatory based on religion. Frankly, so what. It should have been done.
Good reason to vote early, I guess.
At the end of it all, they paid me cash for my expenses and gave me a verbal job offer with a catch-- there was a new administration coming in and they weren't sure how much funding they would have. If I'd wait around, they would reach out to me in a few months.
As a newly minted college graduate, I wasn't about to do nothing and couldn't afford to either, so I took a job in private industry. Three YEARS and a few months later, they reached out to me. They wanted me to take their tests again which they would arrange in the local area. I did, can't imagine that I did any worse, but a couple of months later, got their stock "sorry" letter.
I'm guessing it was because there was something in my background discovered to indicate I wouldn't be an "asset" to them like Lee Harvey Oswald or this Afghan recruit.
