I wore used clothing.

Those are properly called "hand-me-downs," and in those days, every younger sibling wore his older siblings' passed-down clothes. (Luckily, I had older brothers, instead of older sisters, else I probably would have been the target of a lot of teasing by the other kids in school.)

I’m next to the youngest girl, 5 aunts, more girls than boys, hand me downs were common. Underwear and shoes were new. By 10 I wore a size 5 shoe. Still do at 76.I raised my boys on yardsale clothes.
