For Trump, then, the task of the debate was threefold: to hammer the point that Kamala Harris is responsible for the failed policies of the Biden-Harris White House, and that he is the agent of change — a proposition with which the majority of Americans tend to agree; to drive home that Harris is actually dangerously far-left, and that she is lying about her current policy positions in order to protect them from scrutiny; and that she is incompetent, having blown every single task she has ever been handed. In short, Harris is a cipher; it is Trump's job to clarify just who she is.
For Harris, the task was more complicated: she had to avoid all of these points, and she had to somehow go further by providing an effective counter. It wasn't enough to merely dodge punches; she had to establish that she is different than Joe Biden in some marked way; that she is a moderate who has experienced a change of heart; and that she isn't the cackler who regularly enjoys a heaping helping of word salad.
And for the moderators, the task was to help Kamala Harris achieve all of these things.
They certainly did their best. David Muir and Linsey Davis turned in the most discreditable job of moderation in presidential history. They repeatedly (and wrongly) fact-checked Trump four times, without ever calling Harris on a single one of her lies. They asked Trump follow-ups and demanded clarification while allowing Harris to skate on her bumper sticker platitudes. They structured their questions to elicit prepared responses from Harris, while demanding that Trump forgo obvious responses to Harris' lies.

Ben forgot to mention that she's blown every man who was a rung on her personal political ladder...
Ben also forgot to mention that nothing is too big for Vice Mattress Kamala to swallow.
How did that work for Hillary in '16?
By 2016, Hillary had been exposed to the electorate for 24 years (First Lady, Senator, Sec’y of State) and was extremely unlikable.
Clinton was exposed several times as being corrupt (cattle futures deals, FBI files in the Lincoln Bedroom, Clinton Foundation).
Harris has largely been hidden away from the electorate the past 3-1/2 years because she’s a babbling idiot.
Harris doesn’t have the history of deep corruption that Clinton did.
Harris is also unlikable, but I think less unlikable than Clinton was.
Clinton was lily white and Harris is a slightly darker shade (kinda black, Jamaican, Indian — whatever they want her to be).
So, on balance, I think the comparison to Clinton fails on several counts.
Or alternative, the Deep State learned some lessons from the Hillary experience.
“...the Deep State learned some lessons from the Hillary experience.”
No doubt about it. The last-minute installation of somebody who never won a vote and doesn’t have much public exposure supports that. It all smacks of a DS operation.
Yes, they learned how to rig elections in the swing states, and then use the power of government and the media-lie-system to intimidate anyone who dared challenge the theft of an election.
To be fair, I think they rigged it in 2016 too, but not sufficiently enough to overcome Trump's massive lead.

I think this is a great take by Shaprio.
But, big difference here WRT Hillary. W Clinton, was a charismatic president and great speaker. And largely during his adiministration, the Leftist were happy about his run. And would like for it to continue.
So, Hillary’s “we are the president” was to TIE Her as part of and a continuation of Clinton’s term.
Harris has to somehow take credit of being in office, running as the incumbent. But, somoehow distance herself from the complete failure of Biden.
tio me, this is why Trump’s “if that is your solution, and you know it’s all F’ed up now. Why have you not fixed it? If you ARE the president, why don’t you fix it, right now?” hits really really hard.
And for those who slept through History, just search for Pyrrhus.
Their back stories are different, but both, according to anyone except Justice KJB, are universally considered ‘women.’ And that, used as a sole criteria, wasn’t enough for Hillary. Harris has received less talk of being corrupt, but hasn’t received nearly as much manufactured hype as Hillary, doesn’t benefit for positive vibes rubbed off from a popular spouse nor from impressions she must be somewhat moderate as a democrat from a southern state. If people know anything about her roots it’s ‘California’ where Democrats are fruits and nuts. Whereas a Republican who survived NYC roots suggests some moderate tendencies.

I WILL NEVER WATCH DAVID MUIR AGAIN
