Why are nonprofit groups setting up voter registration booths outside of driver’s license offices in Texas?

Every time I’ve ever applied for a new driver’s license while also being involved in the voting process (Arizona, Tennessee, and now Alabama), I’ve registered to vote while I was in the DMV getting my picture taken. Now apparently that process is true for Texas too—which makes this story all the more odd, unsettling, and condemning. From a report out yesterday by Natalia Mittelstadt at Just the News:

Texas AG Ken Paxton launches probe of groups allegedly registering non-citizens to vote

The AG’s Election Integrity Unit found that multiple nonprofit organizations have opened booths outside Texas Department of Public Safety Driver License offices to assist with voter registration. U.S. citizens have the opportunity to register to vote at the offices when they are being issued or renewing their driver’s license or identification card.

First of all, if my experience is any indicator of what the paperwork is like in Texas too, registering to vote is basically as simple as checking a “yes” or “no” box—even a first-grader could figure it out—and as long as you speak and read English at even the most basic levels, it’s not a confusing process. Even more so when you consider that there’s someone right across the counter from you who could answer any questions if they arose. But, if you’re an American and you can’t figure out how to properly fill-out a government form that’s about as straightforward as it gets, maybe you’re not exactly competent enough to have a say in public policy and representation.

So, it strikes me as very strange indeed that nonprofit voter registration groups would wait outside the DMV, “helping” people register to vote. Seems a bit redundant, right?

Well the conclusion follows the observation:

Only if you’re not registering illegals will you do this, because all those legals would have just had the opportunity to register while in the Texas DMV.

But if your target demographic isn’t the American citizen…? Then it makes perfect sense.

Luckily, Paxton announced yesterday that he is on this. If there is anyone who can break this up and reverse it, it is Paxton.

If you owe child support and show up at DMV to renew your DL what happens?

If a warrant for your arrest is active, and you show up at DMV, what happens?

They are registering illegal aliens to vote. They’ve been doing it for years in Oregon. Oregon dems enacted a “motor voter” law and we didn’t get to vote on it.

Texas needs to start comparing REAL ID Driver’s Licenses and ID Cards with the Voter Registration Rolls to determine how many illegals have registered to vote.

Texas has the data. Now they need to start using it.

Question: “Why are nonprofit groups setting up voter registration booths outside of driver’s license offices in Texas?”

Because nature abhors a vacuum.

Do you see anybody else setting up voter registration booths outside of driver’s license offices in Texas?

I’m not sure if I should get upset at them for wanting to win, or upset at us for having zero motivation to win. (Is that a form of laziness?) To be fair, I’m a little upset at both.

“Luckily, Paxton announced yesterday that he is on this. If there is anyone who can break this up and reverse it, it is Paxton.”

This has probably been going on for 3 years in some states. Paxon’s answer to this is to say that it is against the law for non-citizens to vote in TX and that they will be arrested if they do. He seems to think it will deter illegals from voting, but it likely won’t deter many. How many can they track down, how many can they arrest? Illegals are also being registered to vote in many other states where all they need is a Soc Sec #. This freaking election is a travesty that neither side will accept.

Right. The booths outside are to register the illegals who can’t register inside.

No one legitimate sets up voter registration booths outside the DMV because you can already register when you're in there. The only reason to register people outside the DMV is because they couldn't register inside because they're unable to legally register.
