Democratic Platform Touts Kamala’s Broadband Project That Hasn’t Connected Anyone to the Internet.

The Democratic Party’s platform hails a rural broadband project overseen by Kamala Harris, which—despite a $42 billion budget—has yet to connect a single user to the Internet. In 2021, Joe Biden tapped Harris to lead the Biden-Harris government’s taxpayer-funded efforts to subsidize rural Internet infrastructure. However, ground has yet to be broken on a single project—and will not be broken until at least 2025.Despite the lack of progress, the 2024 Democratic Party’s platform claims that “under President Biden, we’re finally rebuilding our roads, bridges, ports, airports, water systems, electric grids, broadband, and more, paving the way for a great American ‘Infrastructure Decade’ that will create hundreds of thousands of good-paying union jobs.”

According to Federal Communications Commission (FCC) member Brendan Carr, after over 1,000 days, not a single person has been connected to the web through the Harris-led broadband project.Complicating matters has been the Biden-Harris government’s insistence on burdensome regulations—including climate change mandates, union worker requirements, and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) policies—which have halted progress on expanding rural Internet access.Additionally, Internet Service Providers (ISPs) point to attempts by the Biden-Harris Commerce Department to regulate consumer rates in a manner beyond the agency’s authority as compounding the program’s ineffectiveness.

For the left, it is not the actual product that counts. It's the intention and the spending of great sums of money.

In my county, every four or five years there is some big headline in our once-weekly paper that broadband internet is going to be soon widely available and it will be funded by the federal government. A couple of years later all the money has been spent on "studies" and no one has any better internet than they had before.

I get internet through our phone service, Windstream/Kinetic. The service sucks. But, it is better than what a construction company about a mile from me has. He is on the same service but his connection is so bad he can't even use email.

The government agencies are good at making promises but dismal on actually delivery. And Kamala wants to put government in charge of setting prices for goods and services if she feels a company is "price gouging" (or gauging--whichever you prefer). Yeah, right.

That’s what I came on this thread to say. Completely agree.

You need to look no further than high speed internet to see the clear superiority of private sector business versus government.

The article clearly demonstrates the ineptitude of government. Some people would take it further and suggest that it’s more than ineptitude and involves graft and corruption.

While government dithers away with this promise, Elon Musk puts together a highly efficient high speed satellite system in place that reaches every rural area government has failed.

Government is the problem.

It’s a union-Dem gravy train. See also solar panels, windmills, shovel-ready projects, high-speed rails, laptops for school kids, military toys, electric cars...

This is interesting. We have a place in the woods in Northern Michigan that is being wired for fiber optic Internet.

I wondered if this was part of the project, but apparently not...

Amazing that they are running fiber out in the woods that far out.

And Kamala is going to snap her fingers to build 3000 new homes overnight. She’s unburdened by reality.

In between naps, Biden gave VP Kamala Harris four significant jobs:
<><>border czar (money no object),
<><>she had $5 billion to build electric school buses (part of Biden’s infrastructure bill),
<><>and $90 billion tax dollars to get high speed internet into rural areas.
<><> Biden gave Harris a key role in AI-—artificial intelligence high tech innovations.

She failed at all four jobs.

what happened to the billions of tax dollars?

And this Harris campaign disaster.

High tech Intel was a huge beneficiary of the highly touted “Biden/Harris Chips Act” last March........an $8.5 billion outright grant (with attendant billion dollar insider bonuses), a $25 billion sweetheart tax incentive (part of Biden/Harris’ cockamamie $11 billion federal “loan program” as they spent trillions of tax dollars).

What did we, the people, get in exchange? Intel this week announced it was laying off 15% of its workforce — 15,000 positions. American taxpayers lost twice: billions of tax dollars and a weakened economy minus thousands of jobs.

Like Solyndra, it's a money-laundering and redistribution scheme (and crime).

This is a textbook example of why we want and need the GD government OUT OF OUR LIVES AND BUSINESSES.

“… climate change mandates, union worker requirements, and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) policies—which have halted progress on expanding rural Internet access. ISPs point to attempts by the Biden-Harris Commerce Department to regulate consumer rates in a manner beyond the agency’s authority as compounding the program’s ineffectiveness.”

FedGov is the most corrupt, most ineffectual, most Byzantine, most useless, greediest, most insatiable thing ever created by man.

I suspect that Musk and Starlink could do the job for a whole lot less than 42 billion.
