Moshe Shapiro was 15 when he fought to ward off an attack from a band of Bedouins. He was quickly knocked unconscious, and one of the Bedouins wanted to finish him off, but the chief of the band forbade it. Instead, impressed by his bravery, the chief took him into his home and taught him how to fight effectively. When Moshe Shapiro grew up, he became the first Jewish security officer, and was respected and loved by both Jews and Arabs, and kept order in the wild, pre-Mandate land of Israel, dispensing justice fairly and equally.
