I've been told that the only way to deal with massively abusive insults in the New Free Republic is just to ignore them, since their most obvious purpose is to so cr*p all over the thread that FR's management will delete the whole thing.
And since I put a lot of work into my posts, and often refer back to them, I don't like seeing them deleted.
So I try to ignore the nonsense and stay focused on what matters.
