In addition to metal decline, since 2020 Joe has lost any principles he ever pretended to have. Kamala is even worse.

I would state that Joe NEVER had any principles that we would recognize.

The founders set the SC up so it would be protected from tyrants like Herr Biden. Let’s hope and pray it’s protected enough.

FTA——AP’s NORC Center for Public Affairs Research found 67% of Americans, including 82% of Democrats and 57% of Republicans, support a proposal to set finite terms for justices.

But there were few law professors and even fewer Democratic members clamoring for term limits until conservatives secured a stable majority on the court. Then, suddenly, the court had to be “reformed” without delay.

It is no accident that the first three justices who would be term-limited off the court are conservatives: Clarence Thomas (after 33 years on the court), Chief Justice John Roberts (after 19 years) and Justice Samuel Alito (after 18 years).

Biden’s illegitimate ‘reforms’ are a nakedly political
bid to tilt the Supreme Court on his way out....(to make Jill stop nagging?).

There are rumors that Alito is considering retirement. A big reason why Kamala needs to lose. Dems are screeching even louder about Thomas.

“For more than 50 years, Biden staunchly refused to play politics with the Supreme Court…”

Utter BS - he sat on the Judiciary Committee & was at the center of taking out Robert Bork plus the “high tech lynching” of Clarence Thomas.

SCOTUS nominations had been political before Bork. Proposing term limits is a huge escalation. I never liked Biden, but in the Judiciary Committee he cast doubts on Anita Hill’s accusations against Thomas (maybe he felt guilty about Bork). I think Kamala is even worse than Biden, although they agree most of the time.

Exactly. Now, with his mental state, it is basically what ever policy his handlers want him to support.

Start with 2 terms for Senators, and 3 for the House. Do that first, then move on.

Biden is an empty locker in which the left stores is favorite hobby horses in the hope that someday the American people would be stupid enough to dig them out and embrace them. That is all there is to this.

I absolutely second that emotion. It's spot on. Biden is a steaming pile of pig's dung.

“For more than 50 years, Biden staunchly refused to play politics with the Supreme Court “

Well, that’s just false. Anyone who remembers the Clarence Thomas hearings that Biden conducted should remember vicious, shameless and dishonest politics by Joe.

You are right, Biden did play politics. I don't like Biden and I don't believe the accusations against Thomas. But Biden also kept some of Hill's witnesses from testifying (possibly because he didn't want to be accused of racism), and that action may have allowed Thomas to be confirmed. If Ted Kennedy had been chairman who knows what would have happened.

I think Turley is right that SCOTUS was more protected in the past, but that was not the result of virtuous Dem senators. Biden voted NO on Thomas's confirmation.

Notably, if Biden were to seek this change as a legislative matter without a constitutional amendment, future Congresses could pare terms further from 18 to eight years or even less... If Congress has this authority, it could change the occupants of the court faster than a South Beach timeshare condo.

What does Turley mean by "If Congress has this authority...?" He's the so-called Constitutional Scholar, doesn't he know?

The Constitution says that the Justices "shall hold their Offices during good Behavior." How can that be changed legislatively? Change has to be via amendment.
