Massachusetts Sen. Edward Markey is renewing his push to expand the U.S. Supreme Court by adding four seats, less than a day after President Biden announced his support for reforming the high court.

Speaking in front of the Court building Thursday, the Democratic senator urged Congress to pass the Judiciary Act, a proposal that would create a 13-justice bench...

Your idea has merit. One problem of having 1 representative for every 700K citizens is that it takes lots of money to reach all those voters. So collecting campaign contributions becomes job one.

The 17th amendment was a disaster, a complete disaster. Now senators are beholden to big money groups instead of to state legislatures. Unfortunately, we’ll never see the 17th repealed as that would be “undemocratic”.

If age and term limits are considered for the Supreme Court they should be considered for Congress.

If Trump does win in November, see how fast these liberals stop talking about expanding the court. Once he is elected and hopefully a Senate majority, I say let’s give them their wish.

Actually the constitution does not specify the makeup of the court. The framers left that up to congress.

Keep in mind the SC can always find the bill to expand the court UnConstitutional.

“In a sense, that came out of nowhere, he didn’t have to put that in the speech, but the fact that he mentioned that suggested to me that in his mind, for the future of the country, this has become a high priority and what he is presumably referring to is the recent decisions coming out of a Supreme Court that is dominated by very conservative justices,” Mr. Sragow said.”

What mind? Does he really think Biden wrote that letter?

One of the reasons FDR didn’t get it was the sitting SC ended up allowing much of his Unconstitutional agenda to go through so he backed off a bit. To this day we suffer because of it.

I think you’re being a little idealist here. They may very well try to do this in the next 6 months while Biden is still officially president.

No. If the demonrats try they can only do it by executive order. If the potato head tries it will be pandemonium. I w think the last 2 weeks have been enough excitement and we don’t need a battle for the court system.

They want 13 to have a justice for each circuit court. We have 13 of them. Makes sense but it should be two democrats and two republicans as choices.

It should be pointed out to not confuse “democracy” as being the same thing as the democrat or democratic party. The only “democracy” that the “democrats” want to protect is NOT the democratic voting system of the Republic, but the power and wealth of their so called democrat or democratic party. Being a democrat and being a democratic republic are very different. One is self centered, want-to-be, micromanaging rulers, while the other is only a part of the system, not the whole system.

Every time I hear the word, “progressive” I think “Cancer is a progressive disease.”

I am ok with adding 4 seats .... after Trump is elected and the GOP has control of the Senate.

Leftists - see how that works?

What a terrible idea. It’s bad enough when a decision is 5 to 4. The whining will never cease if a decision is 7 to 6.

The more judges we add, the narrower the decision, and the the closer we move to the Founders’ despised “popular majority.”

From memory: The 1930s Scotus shot down a lot of FDR’s New Deal.

After the court-packing threat and more judges appointed by FDR, Scotus rolled over and acceded to much of the New Deal.

By the time of his death, FDR appointed seven or eight of the Scotus judges.

Exactly right. The “valiant” SCOTUS caved.

“We either vote them out or we will have CW II.”

LOL vote you actually think voting matters now how cute. Stalin was right it doesn’t matter how people vote it only matters who counts the votes. News flash they count the votes. Unless a lot of people get their big boy pants on and start putting rifles in their hands they will win by any counting means necessary in November bank on it. J6 was an unarmed mistake never EVER forget that. If you are going to storm the Bastille you better be willing to use lethal force once there anything less is a mistake and all you get is political prisoners history proves that time and time again. So the question is will people put on their big boy pants or not. My solid bet is not given how obese and lazy this country is. So plan on D rule with more Marxism every year they are allowed to keep breathing.
