The acoustics are very clear on that point.
One lie was questioning if Trump was hit by shrapnel or bullet.
The other lie is the number of shell casings, with a discrepancy of 3.
If those 3 shots came from the 2nd story room Wray just laid down a cover story for whoever fired them which would be the act of someone who was in on the failed attempt.
Did Wray accidentally confess his involvement?
To think a “professional assasin” could not put a round (s) within 1/2 inch of the center of a six inch plate at 140 yds is simply idiocy on parade. Even if the pie plate was spinning on it’s vertical axis, the hit would be dead center.
A .223 travels 420 ft in .1 sec. The one who grazed Trump’s ear was not a professional, or even a well practiced amatuer.

Well, it’s not clear at all that there was an ESU sniper at all. The report is that that the two ESU members who were in that room took a picture of Crooks acting suspiciously, and then went down to help find him, so weren’t up in that room at all at the time.
Of course that would take some to the next conspiracy.
Out of reach of the sniper with half his head blown off? Were they afraid the corpse might bleed on it? He was dead dead, no doubt.
Now, was there one to take out Crook? still does not explain all the shots.
Your explanation further down is most plausable. That of Crook taking three initial aimed (in his mind) shots, then saw his chances evaporate, and either due to previous plan to cause additional mayhem, or out of frustration, shooting into the crowd a quick 5 more, before friendlies took him out.
I don’t know, but it is obvious that Trump was supposed to be assassinated that day. There is simply no other way to explain the ridiculous lack of security, and the obfuscation and prevarication that has been spewing out of every government stooge since.
You left out 1 key detail...
