Coons, campaign co-chair, says Biden ‘weighing’ who will be best to defeat Trump

Sen. Chris Coons (D-Del.), national co-chair of President Biden’s reelection campaign, said Friday that Biden is “weighing” who would be the best Democratic nominee to defeat former President Trump in November, indicating Biden is carefully evaluating the option of stepping aside for another candidate.

But Coons also emphasized he thinks Biden would be the strongest choice to challenge Trump in the general election, and he later posted a statement on social media declaring Biden is “in it to win it.”

“This is an internal party matter and a matter of the campaign that is playing out very publicly. I think our president is weighing what he should weigh, which is: Who is the best candidate to win in November and to carry forward the Democratic Party’s values and priorities in this campaign?” Coons said at the Aspen Security Forum.

A co-worker of mine in is 70’s, a believer and very, smart IT guy, was giving me his input on the possibility of an open convention for the DEMs. His response is that the people will not like it. They went to the polls and voted for Biden or whoever as their candidate. If Biden drops out and the elected officials have to decide who is top dog or doggette on the ticket, NOT the voters, it’s basically declaring “we don’t care what you wanted, or your input”, it’s OUR pick. It do make sense do it not? ;>)

It was a tough negotiation but Biden wins out in the end --- he gets to pick which bus he gets thrown under.

And an extra perk --- they had to promise they'd stay off his lawn

Biden doesn’t know if his ass is bored or punched, let alone know who could beat President Trump.

Isn’t this supposed to be decided via a primary election.
After all, some states didn’t have a primary and their respective state party officials said biden was the best.

Your friend is correct. The only way it could have worked is if Biden had shocked everyone and dropped out before any calls for him to drop out. This would have worked best before the debate exposed his dementia, but it could also have worked within days of the debate if Joe admitted that he himself had not realized until the debate that he was not up to the job. But of course Joe being Joe, he would never do that, confirming what we have always known and what many Dems are just discovering is that Joe is a self-centered jerk.

The answer is no one beats Trump so they let Biden go down with the ship. Forcing him out will make matters worse down ballot.

The hypocritical proponents of “democracy” are throwing out the slanted primary totals for Biden and now will allow the candidate they “weigh” as political best. How about asking the voters?

Following the legal elections for primary delegates:

Joe Biden
3,896

Uncommitted

36

Dean Phillips
(Dropped Out)
4

Palmer
3

Marianne Williamson

We need to use the “equity” standard.

That means Marianne Williamson should get the nomination.

Ha. Good point.

At a cabinet meeting among his political enemies Abraham Lincoln did the math:
“Seven no and one aye, the ayes have it,”
