If the President is unfit, then the cabinet declares him as such and the VP acts as president unless the president challenges it in which case the congress votes, 2/3rds required to declare him unfit to resume his duties.
There is a constitutional process for this which is not to hide it and exercise the powers that belong to the President under the constitution.
