Slotkin: Gaza Pier ‘More Complicated Than We Would Have Liked’, People Don’t Get ‘How Complicated This Is’
Breitbart ^ | 06/19/2024 | IAN HANCHETT

Posted on 06/19/2024 6:12:04 AM PDT by ChicagoConservative27

On Tuesday’s broadcast of CNN’s “Situation Room,” Rep. Elissa Slotkin (D-MI) responded to a question on whether the Gaza aid pier constructed by the Biden administration has failed due to numerous setbacks combined with the small amount of aid that has come in by stating that “I don’t think people understand just how complicated this is.” And “it’s just more complicated than we would have liked.”

Host Wolf Blitzer asked, “I want to get, first, to this story we’ve just been reporting, this U.S. pier off the coast of Gaza has suffered setback after setback and has only delivered a tiny fraction of aid to the Palestinians. Is it time to call this a failed mission?”

Slotkin responded, “I don’t think people understand just how complicated this is. It sounds simple when you say it, but obviously, you heard that it’s just more complicated than we would have liked. I don’t know if it’s — if we’re ready to give it up. I’m going to leave that to the military. But we need more humanitarian aid to be getting into Gaza, and the pier was already a stopgap measure to try and get additional aid in since overland routes weren’t being used the way that I would like them to be used. So, we’ve got to figure out a way to get that aid in. The pier — if it’s not the pier, we just — we need more overland to get things into Gaza.”

The Navy has been delivering supplies to beaches since WW2 just fine. You would think the Biden administration would have just used their existing equipment and techniques

WHat these idiots are attempt8ing with the pier was to establish something similar to the Vargo Cults of the PAcific which ocurred after WWII troops were withdrawn.

So BIden figured senilely , “Build It and They will Come” ( They...NGOs UN agencies etc)

BUt Hamas diod not want that pier, it was a beachead for invasion by sea in their eyes, and the Hamas idjits had noway opf controlling it , if the pier was built. So the Hamas geniuses destroyed it.

And guess what. “They” did not come, THe “ They “ people got blowed up good in Rafa, and this would have been far worse.

Israel would have blown it up otherwise.

Talk about Losing !

This happens when you put politicians in chairs where generals should be sitting.

Idiots.

I admit this sounds naive, but…

What if the IDF setting up a landing/drop zone and relief is airlifted into the zone? Then the IDF distributes it to whomever it recognizes as a distributor for the relief to the noncombatants. Hamas interferes in any way, the effort ends.

There just wasn't enough money in that for the right people. It looks like they wanted the U.S. Army to handle the contracts for a maritime operation and not the U.S. Navy. Follow the money and the answer will reveal itself.

Gee, Elissa, maybe pResident Biden should have asked a few experts before shooting off his mouth at the SOTU speech that “we” were going to build a new pier. They would have told him how ‘complicated’ it was and that it wasn’t a very good idea.

Probably got the Nike response - "Just do it!"

You can't fix stupid.

“lotkin responded, “I don’t think people understand just how complicated this is.”

Thank goodness we had smarter people responsible for setting up those docks at Normandy in WW2. Being focused on accomplishing the task as expeditiously as possible now falls prey to making sure the right “groups” are represented in the implementation. I’m sure there will be no one held accountable for this latest failure, as failure is never their fault.

If only there were like centuries or even millennia of seafaring experience to draw from.

Yes, but those piers were all built by patriarchal white supremacists.

This was an opportunity to showcase for the world a more progressive pier.

Meanwhile, for $1.3 billion, China is building a deep water (60 foot depth) port in Peru, the deepest port on the west coast south of the U.S.

Amazing what a serious country can accomplish.
