If this country was serious about its energy problems it would turn to nuclear.
Nuclear is not ready for prime time, has proven to be way too expensive and dangerous. And don't respond with "new and improved!". The boffins had their chance, and blew it, multiple times. It's impossible to finance nuclear plant construction when the government is stealing 3% of investors money every year via money printing.
