That wasn’t the point, but I’m guessing we did not.

We name lots of ships after battles that we won, not necessarily naval battles, like Saratoga and Ticonderoga, and Coral Sea, all the names of aircraft carriers.

The battle of Matamoros was a naval engagement during the Texas Revolution on April 3, 1836, between the brig Montezuma of the Mexican Navy and the schooner Invincible of the Texas Navy.

Thanks I didn’t know about that.

I went to Matamoros it wasn’t so bad, but that was 40 years ago; I don’t hear anything good about the place nowadays.
