Could someone (preferably traditional Roman Catholic) please explain exactly what a "diocesan hermit" is. Also how does one become one?

I'm sure I'm not the only one here who never heard of that before.

I wonder what he has been praying about? “Please give me some pretty, pretty clothes for my hermitage.”

They live a more traditional cloistered life of poverty and prayer.

This, however, tells me that the process of becoming a monk has been corrupted. This crap doesn’t happen to true believers. I believe the psycho leftists are invading every facet of life including the deepest parts of Christianity. The Buddhists wouldn’t stand for this dumpster fire.

Ditto. I'm pretty sure it's just one of their numerous religious "orders" (denominations.)

IThe article says a hermit is a relatively quiet and secluded type of vocation. It sounds to me like this person is neither being quiet or secluded. So that means it’s just another political stunt.

Agree with comments below, a hermit doesn’t participate in theatre. In fact, they often never leave their homes.

I always thought a hermit was someone who lives in complete solitude and doesn’t interact with mere humans.

Since a hermit doesn’t talk to any human, it is impossible for him/her/it to reveal that he/she/it is really it/she/he. Like, who would care? He/she/it wears a robe all year around and doesn’t talk to anybody. How does she/it/he “come out”?

From the article: ...through his work with the local theater.

...where he honed playing the role of a monk.

Wow, an LGBTQ Tranny Diocesan Thespian Hermit?

Is he/she also a minority, obese or disabled ?

If so, we could be watching history in the making

An LGBTQ+ Queer trans minority body positive transableist Diocesan LGBTQ+ Queer trans minority body positive Diocesan thesbian hermit.

Folks, we have hit Peak Intersectionality!

Totally historic. Who would have thought that it's possible for hermit to consign Karine Jean-Pierre to the dust bin of Lefty history.

LGBTQ+ Queer trans minority body positive transableist Diocesan thesbian hermit trumps Black Female Lesbian Dwarf Haitian Alien White House Press Secretary all day, every day-24/7.

Thesbian Hermit Trumps Lesbian Liar every time - we gotta give this hermit a White House podium

Don't know but the one hermit I met was the most down to earth, capable, wise, compassionate confessors I ever encountered; maybe THE most so. In his presence you just knew you were in the presence of competence.. Like a good big brother or father.

Its not very common, as I know. I knew the terms, but had to wonder how it applied to this man. Here's a definition of an "oblate." It someone who, to the best of my understanding wants to live in the world, but still be "a monk."

https://beingbenedictine.com/about/

It mentions he is not in a community - so he is under no discipline or supervision of a monastery or its abbot. He's just some guy, out alone in the mountains, who asked the local Bishop if he could call himself an "oblate." He may simply call himself an "oblate" for his own narcissistic needs.

It mentioned he underwent a Cannon Law review, so at least the local Bishop told him clearly he couldn't be a priest. Otherwise, the Bishop isn't going to discourage (nor has any power over) anyone who claims they want to live a religious life of prayer, alone in the mountains. Seems to me he has no real connection with the Catholic Church.

What troubles me is the statement he's "with the Blessed Sacrament, which was installed in my oratory shortly before Christmas.”.

So he took a consecrated host from the Church and "installed it" in his cabin? Weird. Sounds like some sacrilege is going on there.

As with all AP stories, its goal is propaganda, and its probably missing many facts and other details.

Good good news

A friend’s family member is walking away from his 10 year odyssey in trans-land!

He is waking up and the delusion is ending!

He had no surgery, He wants to go back to being himself.

Praise God!

A hermit is a person who is supposed to renounce regular life and live a life dedicated purely to prayer and contemplation of God.

A hermit normally must obey his abbot and a separate line to the Pope. A “diocesan hermit” is rare and they are to obey the local bishop.
