Being sneaky by placing "advisors" won't fly.
This is directed at Zeepers in the continental US:
If it comes to pass that the "advisor" fig leaf is used to embroil the US in direct conflict with Russia, and the inevitable pushback occurs domestically, will you cheer on actions taken against those protesting?
Or more pointedly: will you be willing to die for Ukraine? For the likes of Biden's/Graham's/Romney's/Cheney's personal enrichment?
I'll leave it as a rhetorical question, but at the rate its going, the question may not remain academic.
First of all, Brown said, “I think we will get there eventually”. In diplo-speak, that’s a long way from “we are sending them in”.
And no, if we send NATO guys in as advisors and trainers into a war, close to the front as the story said, and they get attacked while engaging in the war, that is not NATO article V.
So Brit or US soldiers, decide to go join the war. They get shelled and killed, and all of NATO has to go to war with Russia? Two boys and two girls wrote this fantasy story.
Silliness. At this point declare war on Russia and see how much the American people support THAT about now.
Sending in a small number of specialist “advisors,” Seals, recon Marines, etc... might have worked a year ago but now they will be only a stop gap, and a costly one too, in the face of Ukraine collapse and Russian advance. We could see another Dunkirk.
“Trainers” quickly become “Advisors” in the field.
They will be have be issued the whole complement of “kit” and issued weapons for “self defense”’.
Then they will quickly become “actively engaged” in operations to how Ukrainians work.
They will then quickly become involved firefights in order to “defend themselves”.
There once was a placed called Vietnam, We sent advisors to help them, so they say. It ended rather poorly because we didn’t want to win, just maintain South Vietnam. And the same jagoffs mentality is back. I’d rather see miniskirts, hot pants, and the Beatles come back instead of the lunacy of the state dept.and the pentagon doing McNamara management redux. Sock it to Judy one more time.
That is what should happen. Put up or shut up. But doing such would raise a lot of uncomfortable questions that the scumbags won't want to answer.
Don't do it! Unless they actually want nuclear war with Putin.
I will personally cheer anyone who avoids fighting for globohomo. I have a nephew who is of the age to be drafted. I have a pot of money to help him leave the country.
Isn’t it assumed “advisors” have been there for 2 years already?
The media has told us about the CIA bases, about NATO people in Ukraine giving ISR data, we know British are operating and firing the Storm Shadows.
How much much “advisory” do they intend to get?
There likely aren’t enough effective UKE troops left to advise or train to make a difference by now, after hemming and hawing for a couple YEARS. Unless they send a lot and a lot of fancier weapons to, that strike deep into Russia, it won
t make a difference.
I've been predicting for weeks they're next if not already there.
Actually "advisors" might already be there which would explain the recent losses in spite of the new (outdated) equipment.
I have read the UK, US and Frenchies have “advisors there” providing targeting info using the missile systems, as well as strategic advising. Supposedly, their first order is not to get caught.
Have no idea how to verify, but also don’t doubt it.
“Sending in a small number of specialist “advisors,” Seals, recon Marines, etc... “
That has turned into a fetish in our wars because we have basically spent 20 years chasing Geronimo in the mountains. Verdun and artillery doesn’t care how special you are. And those light forces are very weak against a conventional force.
Like Blackhawk down, Delta and Rangers were hanging on for dear life. But it ended when 10th Mountain Division showed up. Many Rangers remarked in amazement at how it all stopped cold when 10th mountain was standing outside with armor.
Those spec op guys need quality air support, they need skilled artillery, not a bunch of Uke idiots. They need comms, logistics, etc.
There is a lot of abuse of Special Forces these days. And it all stems from unwillingness to use the power and rules of conventional forces. Like the flying clown car packed with SEALS that was shot down. That was because ground forces were denied arty, the AC-130 overhead, and a big enough force and sane ROE.
Shortcuts fail.
Like the sinking of the Moskva early in the war. That was US Global Hawks and P-8s doing the targeting for Brits to launch Harpoons.
They pushed that silly story of a homegrown Uke missile, and over the horizon targeting like lying 3 year olds explaining the empty cookie jar. Same for Nordstream.... Ukes in a motorboat.
There would be a LOT of that. Only you can’t go to Canada anymore. They are run by Castro’s son and the granddaughter of a Uke Nazi in WWII.
Agree.
But if you send an ODA to advise Ukrainians, with the right support, they can crush the Russians.
An ODA will train.
An ODA will “advise” in the field.
An ODA will have access to UAVs for documentation and “support”. UAVs like Raptors and Predators…..for self defense
I suspect that most Zeepers would be HAPPY to send their kids and grandkids to the front lines - why else continue to prolong and escalate this war, unless they want their loved ones to get some ‘combat experience’?
