Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-VA) raged at Republicans lawmakers on the House floor for opposing an aid package to Ukraine before Saturday’s vote.
The House passed a $61 billion aid bill for Ukraine amid the country’s current war with Russia. Lawmakers also passed other bills providing assistance to Taiwan and other U.S. allies.
Hardline conservative lawmakers opposed the bipartisan legislation by arguing the money should have gone towards security at the U.S. southern border. Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) worked with Democratic lawmakers to bring the aid bills to the floor and ensured it’s passage.
Connolly responded to those complaints by noting that the “the Ukrainian-Russian border is our border” and is vital to U.S. national security.
“Some say, well, we have to deal with our border first,” the Virginia lawmaker said during his speech. “The Ukrainian-Russian border is our border! It’s the border between depraved autocracy and freedom loving people seeking our democratic way of life! Do we have a stake in that outcome? Yes. Undeniably, yes.”

We wonder why this nation is disappearing before our eyes?
America is at that point in the course of any empire, where the government descends into shameless self-parody.
If America survives another 100 years, I won’t see.
But I can tell you with conviction, America won’t be a constitutional republic in 100 years.
5.56mm
51st state.
This country is toast.
Really? Maybe we should start shipping illegal aliens over to Ukraine then.
$9 Billion to Gaza! Ally of the Democrats. Why no mention in news titles that $9 billion is aid to Gaza in this package?
So does that mean that our ruling class is laundering illegally acquired money in the Ukraine?
That would explain how they get rich so fast after election.
Agreed. Before today's vote I thought maybe there was a chance in November. At best a Trump victory in November will buy a little more time.
we are living in a bizzarro world....up is down and down is up...wrong is right and right is wrong...
Congressman Gerald E. “Gerry” Connolly is serving his eighth term in the U.S. House of Representatives from Virginia’s 11th District, which includes Fairfax County and the City of Fairfax in Northern Virginia.
Arlington county is wrongly mapped.
[[“The Ukrainian-Russian border is our border!]]
And that is proof positive that liberals are morons and do NOT give a crap about our own nation! They just want ot keep sending OUR money elsewhere, while those in our own nation suffer!
Not unless that bill also made Ukraine the 51st state.
Yet another reason why Washington needs to be flushed.
