California Globe ^ | March 27, 2024 | By William Simpson

Tuesday, March 26th 2024 was a long and contentious day at the Siskiyou County Board of Supervisors (‘BOS’) meeting. This board meeting followed the March 5th, Siskiyou County Health Department advisory warning that people should not enter the Klamath River or drink the water.

“SISKIYOU COUNTY, Calif. — Residents should not be in or drink water from the Klamath River due to high levels of arsenic, lead and aluminum, the Siskiyou County Environmental Health said today.”

Activists favoring dam removal seem to be hypnotically willing to look past any and all unintended adverse impacts that have unfolded and are further unfolding.

Unintended consequences?

Baloney

Opponents of the removal of the dams predicted this and have been warning this would happen for 40 years.

The Feds should have already indicted every person involved in this disaster, they all belong in prison and should be stripped of all assets

“Just tell them NO!”

Seriously? You don’t think we haven’t told them NO!

We even took a vote. Nothing short of blood is going to stop this now. And that probably won’t.

And they are pushing to do the same in Michigan along the Manistee River, one of the best Trout and Salmon flyfishing rivers east of the Mississippi.

The economy and beauty of our community was based on the river and lake. Amazing fishing on the Klamath River. Guide boats are no more.
Can’t take the kids for a picnic anymore to explore. It’s a hellscape of sludge and death.

Why didn’t they lower the water level then dredge the foot of the dam before tearing it down?

Excellent point.
Then again, "good intentions" overrides everything including "unintended results"; and "good intentions" protects ignorant, dangerous unelected bureaucrats everywhere from being held accountable for anything they do.

Not easily accomplished .

A century of toxic sedimentation exists in the entire river basin and valleys behind the dams.

And don’t eat anything that was grown using water from the river, including all plant and animal products.

The enviro-whackos have probably already pivoted to shift the blame for the damage to elsewhere.

How would they divert the flowing water to the dam, while fighting ongoing water flows? How about why didn’t they leave it in place. Seriously? Who gives a good gawdam what the tribal people want? Tell them to pound sand, they have superior rights to US citizens, PLUS citizen rights. If they want to fish, get in line with everyone else.

The tribes, Except the politicians, are even seeing the horror of this now.
