NATO is against everything conservatives stand for. Its mass censorship, its grifting, its top-down wokeism, its protection and promotion of Davos globalism - all of it is an enemy of average Americans
“the baleful influence” So much for objective and non-partisan journalism right there. Then again, The Economist was always a rabid leftist rag.
Throughout most of its history, most of Europe has been at war with most of the rest of Europe. The last 75 years, minus the battles around Greece and the Balkans, has been an anomaly. The day we leave, Europe will go back to being the everyone-hates-everyone-else battlefield it has always been, since at least the Bronze Age.
Being next to Russia or Turkey is good motivation to spend a bit.
The EEeeee-Yewwwww needs to step up and cough up 66 Billion Buck$ to pay the US MIC to show the US House how aid for Ukraine should be done.
They are the ones who have The Bear at the door.
Europe needs Germany to step up, but Germany has bent a knee toward Moscow.
Europe needs to be made to pay more for its defense, accept that it is a US protectorate, and comprehensively bend the knee to the US on other issues in consequence of its status as a protectorate.
I think the limeys and the krauts ought to be able to come up with something.
Defend from who, the Islamic hordes? Hell, Europe might need Russia to fight that ongoing invasion.
American taxpayers have been carrying Europe on our backs for almost 80 years.
It is far past the time to end the stupidity.
Our arrogant stupid “government leaders” have been spending our tax money to protect Europe while Europeans spend their money to benefit themselves.
The idiots in Washington DC borrow money and give it away!
If your neighbors spent all their money on themselves would you take out a bank loan and give the money to them?
Our government idiots give away money that our grandchildren and their children will have to pay.
So far they have given Ukraine about $1,3000,000,000.00 (thats 1.3 trillion dollars) and want to give them more.
Their deficit spending on borrowed money is so huge that the USA spends almost $900 billion a year in interest on the money borrowed to finance the national debt.
Paying that interest is another scam on taxpayers - it’s a way to redistribute tax money to other governments and wealthy, well connected elites.
Why not tell Europe and others to go borrow the money themselves?
If other nations can’t borrow it themselves why should that be the problem of American taxpayers?
Imagine what a difference that interest money would make if it was spent on American infrastructure.
Or even better - not extorted from taxpayers to begin with.
The EU’s government is so out to lunch it would take them 6 months to get back so they dead
Are they even worth defending? Why?
Whatever the Economist is against, I am for.
It took British and American boys to save Europe’s ass in WW1. It took American and British boys to save Europe’s ass in WW11. It took American nuclear bombers and submarines and ICBM’s to save Europe’s ass in the Cold War. Then it took Billions of American dollars to rebuild Europe from THEIR WAR.
No, Europe cannot fight and will not fight. They’ve proved that over and over. Trump is 1,000% correct to not pull any punches with spineless, lilly livered, gutless, cowardly, socialist European’s.

Why the F would we defend Europe? They have self-immolated. Not our problem anymore.

There’s one fish-wrap, bird-cage-lining rag I won’t miss.
At some point the bright light bulb will go off in the brains of the Germans, the Poles, the Austrians and the Italians who will finally do the math and figure out that Russia is a better deal...a much better deal, than the EU/NATO Sh*&show...
