For over 100-years after the first dam was installed (Copco 1 Dam) and over 60-years after Iron Gate Dam was installed, there was nevertheless a decent run of Salmon and steelhead in the Klamath River, even with all of the changing ocean conditions, climate change, and OVERFISHING by both indigenous people and others. Any fishing guide on the Klamath River below Iron Gate Dam would attest to the fact that fishing was great.
Therefore, this is the ONLY relevant Question: Is the deaths of millions of wildlife (mammals, birds, fish, etc.) and the collapse of an entire ecosystem, on top of the devastation of the disadvantaged community of people who live on and around the Lakes (Copco & Iron Gate Lakes), a reasonable payment in exchange for the unproven possibility of an improved salmon run?
The honest answer is NO! It’s a horrendous and insane price to pay that only eco-terrorist would demand.
My father, a very wise man, once told me that: When adults do things that don’t make any sense, it’s usually about money. snip
This is like Palestine, Ohio.. only worse.. our own government did this to us. No...they have no intention of compensation for the taking of private property.
Between the Almeda fire, where we got no warning and this.. I have now lost everything that I worked a 76 year life for my family. Gone!
Photos of the devastating mess!!

Hi! Been thinking about you. I hope they don’t find a way to get you off your land.
It’s almost more than I can take.
I’m so sorry.
The govt’s of the West discovered they could use the “environment” issue whenever they want for the power grabs they want.
And at the same time, like Palestine Ohio, if they don’t care about who is hurt, they just ignore it.
They are evil, corrupt Regimes, and deserve to Fall.
Reality versus liberal B$! Thanks for posting this reality!

Thank you. I’m just in a daze. It’s stunning watching everything you worked so hard for just vanish in fire and water and greed.
I escaped the fire with one thing. My precious Bugs the Cat. I’d have never made it without him. Last month I buried him.. 5 years old... Cancer.. in this strange place where nothing is familiar.
Yes, my faith is in the dumper.
Years ago when my neighbors were being threatened by the jack booted federal thugs, I drove thousands of miles to defend them.
No one is helping us.
Ping.
RIP

Thank you.
I need a Jeff Head right now! I think I am the only one left of the group
:(
If you click on my name at the bottom of my profile you will find this:
“R.I.P. Ed Zehr 1936-2001”
Thanks for showing an example of his outstanding work.
Good to see your moniker.

They’re getting rid of the perch and the catfish.
They don’t belong in that river.
OMG! You actually think that’s what this is about??!
Stop! Just stop it
I suppose you will say I don’t belong living there either!!
This is our lives being destroyed!
F____ your fish!
Dumb people, trying to undo what was done and which wildlife adapted to. Loss of water resources for human activity to “save” salmon which adapted just fine. And in 50,000 years or less, none of it will matter anyway as it will evolve or change again.
I’m so sorry for you. I can’t begin to imagine how you have to feel about the greed, corruption, flagrant disregard for our fellow man, private property rights, and worst of all, LIBERTY. My sympathy, and I share in your disgust.
It was impossible to discern how this is destroying your “lives” (I assume you are speaking for others, with their endorsement).
Your initial post was incomprehensible.
Take a deep breath and try to articulate a coherent position.
The guy he mentions at length in that article linked above is me. When I called the Washington Weekly about it, I learned that Ed had died unexpectedly less than a week after posting it. And they wouldn't say anything more about it to me. You've never heard such a tight lipped guy on the phone.
AuntB, This file shows a small part of what I've been up to (it's a big file). If you wish to know a bit about the rest, drop me a FReepmail.
Good to see you around too.
