Senate advances $95B Ukraine, Israel aid bill with filibuster-proof majority after border deal implodes

The Senate overwhelmingly voted Thursday to start work on a $95 billion spending bill that would provide aid to Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan — one day after it formally killed off a larger bill that included $20 billion in border security spending.

The 67-32 vote included “yeas” from 17 Republicans while Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) was the only “nay” from the Democratic conference.

A final vote on the legislation is not expected until next week as senators begin the lengthy process of negotiating which amendments will be voted on as part of the final package.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) called Thursday’s vote “a good first step.”

Bloomberg: G7, EU discuss using $250 billion frozen Russian assets for Ukraine rebuild
04/02/2024
https://euromaidanpress.com/2024/02/04/bloomberg-g7-eu-discuss-using-250-billion-frozen-russian-assets-for-ukraine-rebuild/

The G7 and the European Union are exploring a plan to leverage over $250 billion in frozen Russian central bank assets to finance Ukraine’s post-war reconstruction, sources tell Bloomberg. The strategy includes issuing debt against these assets, with discussions still at a technical level.

The G7 and the European Union are in discussions about a proposal to utilize over $250 billion in frozen Russian central bank assets as SECURITY for financing Ukraine’s reconstruction efforts, according to sources knowledgeable about the situation, Bloomberg says.

The proposal suggests that Ukraine’s allies might issue debt, secured by the frozen Russian assets, to finance the rebuilding of the war-damaged country. Advocates argue that, according to international law, Russia would likely be held responsible for reparations due to the destruction caused.

If Russia were to refuse payment, the frozen assets could then be targeted to cover the claims, according to sources.

This is war against the American people (among others).

Individual Americans are perfectly capable of sending money overseas to what they support. This is purely an act of plunder and autocratic theft, taking money away from us that we could otherwise each spend as we see fit, to spend as they see fit, for their own ends and their own agenda and their own corruption.

I thought all spending Bills had to originate in the House, no?

That's the way it's SUPPOSED work. But just like they did with Obamacare, they took an existing bill, put in what they wanted to as "amendments", and passed it.

On Cloture on the Motion to Proceed: Upon Reconsideration, Motion to Invoke Cloture on the Motion to Proceed to H.R. 815; A bill to amend title 38, United States Code, to make certain improvements relating to the eligibility of veterans to receive reimbursement for emergency treatment furnished through the Veterans Community Care program, and for other purposes.

It doesn’t matter - there are NO MORE WEAPONS (to speak of) for Ukraine.

They’re HOSED, and this war, thankfully, will be ending soon (at least within the year).

Feds, feel free to log the above.

Not that we should be funding anyone while we’re flat broke, but isn’t the $60 billion more appropriate for Israel, since even $600 billion couldn’t “win” the war for Ukraine? No amount ever could or would accomlish this. I am still waiting for our “victory” in Afghanistan after $2.3 trillion spent.

Hoes mad about Rand Paul :> :> :>

Rand Paul told me he will force the Senate to drag out the process on the $95 billon aid package. “I think we should stay here as long as it takes. If that takes a week or a month, I’ll force them to stay here to discuss why they think the border of Ukraine is more important than the U.S. border.”

Paul voted to block the bill with the bipartisan border deal, arguing it was “worse” than current law

Any one senator can object and force time-consuming votes

“utilize over $250 billion in frozen Russian central bank assets”

Kiss the intellectual property rights of Western nations goodbye.

EU company:

The Russians made us ignore your patents and copyrights.

The Russians made us buy/make knockoffs of your stuff.

They are violent brutes.

Europe is now protecting America and the West in general against Communism and/or Sovietism. All EU nations are united! Even Hungary voted YES for 50 billion Euros to fight off Kremlins Neo-soviet forces right now invading Europe.

EU voted unanimously to support Ukraine with $50 billion. Putin’s friend in Hungary, Orban, was given a month to make up his mind back in December, but basically was told to make a choice, Europe or Russia, and he chose Europe. Some countries are also making individual contributions. It looks like level of support will be pretty even if we get a Ukraine defense bill approved soon.

Since the NOT war started 2/22, EU has given Ukraine more than $88 billion in support. Biden has given more than $75 billion in support. More information at the link below. Click the questions for answers.

I believe if you add up the EU support*, individual European countries support*, and include the new EU package, you are up to just over $180 billion, NOT including the US.

*Of course, the UK, Iceland, Norway, etc., are NOT part of the EU packages. But many EU members are making contributions outside the EU packages as well. All broken down here:
