The old military guys I know do not recommend that their family members join today’s army.
Small town and rural america is not welcome in today’s army nor are their mores and customs. Hard to say how the US army will perform without the traditional backbone of scotch-irish/german recruits —who come from these places.
Every other ethnic group in the USA produces fine warriors—but scotch-irish/german german tend to produce the most.

The old military guys I know do not recommend that their family members join today’s army.I know that I don't. But I don't stop with family members ... kids at fast-food counters, or grocery stores, or any place where they find out I spent 21 years in the military and ask my opinion about it. I tell them, point blank, "Do not join the military now."

The old military guys I know do not recommend that their family members join today’s army.I was career military. I wouldn’t do it today. I never encouraged my son to join the military, but he wanted to be a pilot, so he could go on to bigger and better things. He said he would NEVER be an enlisted man. Good choice, I said.

“nor are their mores and customs” ... nor their patriotism and MAGA beliefs.
