Hiya RG, All...HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL! And do not do anything I wouldn’t do.
I have been paying close attention to that Israel situation, as most of us have. I note one thing that kind of bothers me. I go to church every week....I am Catholic to establish. My Pastor has by since the beginning of all that going on in Israel, given about six homilies.
Not once has he mentioned that we pray for the Israelis.
And yes, this is odd in my parish. We often have the Bishop appear on close TV to make important announcements. And then there’s our parish newsletter and the Diocese newspaper.
Nothing about all that going on over there.
The Catholics appear to not want to get involved in the debate.
Odd, I think.
That is sad to hear.
The Catholics down here in the South are more conservative, like their protestant brothers.
Yet my Archbishop (Archdiocese of Mobile) Rodi prays for “all” Israel and Palestine. He never says one without the other. He does the same for Russia and Ukraine, and even Iraq and Afghanistan. It’s all very lukewarm and political to me.
I suppose he has to be neutral—all lives are important to God—but it would be nice to see him get a little miffed about some of the atrocities being committed when they occur.
