EU struggles to produce and send the ammunition it promised to Ukraine

European Union nations acknowledged on Tuesday that they risk failing to provide Ukraine with the ammunition they pledged to help Kyiv stave off the Russian invasion and win back its territory.

Early this year, EU leaders promised to provide 1 million rounds of ammunition to Ukraine's front line by spring next year in what would have amounted to a serious ramp-up of production. But the 27-nation bloc, for over half a century steeped in a “peace, not war” message and sheltering under a U.S. military umbrella, is finding it tough to come up with the goods.

“The 1 million will not be reached, you have to assume that,” said German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius, ahead of a meeting of EU defense and foreign affairs ministers in Brussels.

Estonia's defense minister, Hanno Pevkur, said it was crucial to ramp up supply of the ammunition.

“Defense Minister Andris Spruds insisted the original target should not be taken too literally...’Well, of course, 1 million rounds are symbolic. I think aspiration and ambition is important,’ he said.”

The above is Babylon Bee level material. Sounds like the EU is bringing Babylon Bee to reality, at least in this case.

Pretty stupid promising things you do not have.

The Ukraine war needs to end.

Unreal. Why didn’t he say a billion rounds then? That would be even more aspirational.

Idiot.

It’s simple....they don’t want to send them.

Virtue signaling is far more important than action. They won’t meet their green energy goals either.

Yes it does. Ukraine needs to accept that no amount of help will make a difference.

They know they can’t win, but the money is what Zelensky and his cohorts want.

They obviously have no care for the people sent to die for nothing.

That’s what makes me angry. All the people dying for nothing. Yet so many here were cheering it on. They sure weren’t going or volunteering to send their kids though.

That makes sense. I often wonder what happened to all the real Americans I used to know. We talk about this here in northern Alberta because we usually have so much in common. We have come to think we’re entirely on our own. We know some are left there, but it seems modern society is winning and beating everyone down.

One million rounds to kill one million people. I don’t know why Russia hasn’t deployed a nuke or two. Thank god they are patient.

They know that as long a they don't do anything rash, the West will eventually get bored and give up on Ukraine.

There aren’t not enough soldiers to shoot the ammo is the real problem. And there are less soldiers every day.

The USA started from a better position than Canada.

But they are falling faster than we are now.

I think it is because US “conservative” politicians are more fake.

For example, Canadian “conservative” politicians like Poilievere are open about continuing mass immigration. That is infuriating, but at least honest.

US Repubs pretend to support a secure border, then “just enough” of them vote against doing anything.

I just think look at your local area. Look for a stable infrastructure and less dependence on outside for the basics like food and energy.

I think the entire Globohomo Empire Regime is going to collapse, Roman Empire style.

The elite are now so incompetent that they are failing at the basics. Artillery ammunition is just one of them

California has spent $10 billion dollars on high speed rail and hasn’t laid a single mile of track.

Large parts of North America (including Alberta!) is now at risk for electricity outages in colder than normal weather.
