It also gives him another advantage: It would take her out of the Presidential race in ’24, should Biden opt not to run. Yes, Newsom has advantages nationally over Harris, but with two Democrats from California running in the primary, the vote in that state would be split. Harris would take the black vote. which would create a situation where Newsom could not be assured of a victory. The Democrats have a real problem, with a weak bench, as they look at the presidential race for 2024. Assuming Biden does not run, which looks increasingly likely, they would be stuck with Harris, a losing proposition if there ever was one.

One thing’s for certain.
Becoming a US senator gives her a license to steal a massive fortune with no fear of arrest or prosecution.

Biden/Harris ticket remains intact for 2024. End of discussion.

Maybe Newsom could appoint a horse to the Senate.

I suggest we make a human centipede out of Schiff, Oprah, and Markle and appoint it as our Senator. Everybody gets a trophy!

that was my theory
another consideration from Kommiela’s perspective
after her vp term is over she’s done as far as national office goes
as a CA senator she may be there for life

Whoever Newsom appoints will be a liberal pos, so taking Kamala out of the line for president would be a win for the country.

Replacing Dianne Feinstein How about we find an old farmer who has an old Poland China Sow that is too old for breeding and the farmer is tired of feeding. That seems to be a good replacement for Feinstein in my humble opinion.

I don’t think Harris would swallow her pride.
On the other hand it wouldn’t be the first time she swallowed to advance her political career.

Newsom said he won’t interfere in the election. Harris would have to be content with being Senator for one year. Then what? SShe wants to run against Padilla for her old seat?
