If China really does start to go under then don’t be surprised if they suddenly invade Siberia to retake it and distract the public from their complaints.
Seriously, they stand almost zero chance of successfully invading Taiwan and for what? A smoldering ruin and worldwide trade embargoes?
But there’s just no downside to invading and reconquering Siberia. It used to be theirs anyway so no one is going to complain about it, it won’t hurt trade, and it will make the people at home happier with the regime.

Absolutely, China could retake a lot of area in Siberia, and probably without firing a shot. Russia is unprepared, and depleted now.
I think Putin has trapped himself when he allied himself with China.
Why would they bother to take Siberia? They have a growing labor shortage at home as it is, why send thousands of young men to the frontier?
