The real threat is with individual state secretaries keeping his name off the ballot, particularly in the swing states that Trump needs to flip.
Trump would have to mount write-in campaigns in these states. And if he wins them, then there'd be a campaign to push faithless electors to deny him at their level in December.
Any victory Trump could conceivably achieve on election day will be tied up in court battles for weeks, if not months.
The left will use every tool they have to deny him the White House.

perhaps; personally, I believe any pub would lose in 2024, as I think their ceiling is 70 million votes, and I have no reason to think the 159 million turnout of 2020 would be any less...
the lousy electoral system we have has never been more evident; two men averaging 80 years of age, neither of whom have the approval of 40 percent of the electorate, and nobody seems to have any idea of how to replace both of them on the ballots...but should Trump be ousted on the ballot it will be interesting to see a third party run; after all, if he thinks he can win, why would he care about the letter after his name...?

Why do you believe the strategy will be effective? Trump has not been convicted in a court of law of insurrection. They are basing it on an accusation.

And add that my bet is that not only will this fail, it will blowback if its tried more extensively.
Why? The unhinged Maddow viewers who actually think that there was an “insurrection” on Jan 6 would vote for Hitler before they would vote for Trump.
Even lukewarm Rep. Voters will be incandescent if the Repulican nominee is seen as being denied a place on the ballot. If the Rats think that it’s time to raise the stakes after these outrageous indictments, they are going to get a big surprise.
