KNOXVILLE, Tennessee (AP) — “That’s where I got shot,” said Rashaad Woods, nodding toward a convenience store in Knoxville’s “gun zone.”

SNIP

According to an assessment by the Rand Corp., measures that work include laws that permit charging adults who let children have unsupervised access to guns, well-enforced background checks and policies that ban guns from people subject to domestic violence restraining orders.

Measures that don't: stand-your-ground and concealed carry laws, which studies consistently show increase gun homicides, and gun buyback programs, which have been shown to have little, if any, effect on crime.

Maybe they need to research how an inanimate object actually turns violent.

Meh. People killed by people defending themselves are ”homicides.”

Yes. Justifiable homicides.

Yeah, I don't think much of "Conservative" think tanks either. They seem to get married to their political theory and never consider that it might need to be tweaked or even just rethought in light of how things are going.

More you get "well it has not been tried right".

That is the same thing liberals do.

None of what I read even remotely passes for science. These people use “science” as a magic word.

Like the Covid oppression, climate change exploitation, trans mental illness tyranny, etc. "Science" has become a cudgel with which to clobber common sense and millenia of human experience to implement totalitarian autocracy.

Simply build more prisons and put gun using offenders in them. The cost of violent crime is absurd so let’s spend the money up front and cage these violent offenders for a couple years. In fact they should be incarcerated a great distance from their home for long enough that their associates have either been killed or moved away. And hire more judges so court cases happen in days rather than years.

Teach people how to think, work and not rob each other is one way.

Let's get real. If we eliminate the statistics on gun crime from liberal infested and controlled metropolitan areas, statistically, we no longer have a problem.

And, in those cities, if we eliminate statistics re gun crime involving people of color, we really no longer have a problem.

Freepers know where I'm going with this.

States which have enacted Constitutional Carry saw their homicide rates stay level or go DOWN.

When you remove the Democrat-run hell-holes from the equation, the US has some of the lowest gun crime rates in the world.

How about a study about how to prevent bad behavior in people?

Even before the advent of guns we had problems w/murder, rape, and robbery.

These older, persistent problems, should be dealt with first.

Heh.

Truth is, it’s not exactly hard to figure out how to basically eliminate these sorts of crimes. The Democrat mayors in the blue dystopias know exactly how to do that, but they don’t want to. They benefit too much from the status quo.
