Eight men were in the Secret Service Cadillac directly following Kennedy’s limo. There’s video footage of the car. Had a rifle been fired by someone on that car they would all have reacted involuntarily to a rifle blast within feet of them. None do.
Moreover two of the men in the car worked for JFK and had been his close personal friends for decades. Kenny O’Donnell and Dave Powers. They weren’t Secret Service agents and they would have reported any “drunken and hungover” Secret Service agents supposed to be protecting Kennedy. Of the many ridiculous conspiracy theories about the assassination this is about the most idiotic.
Cronkite just *knew* it had to be a Right-Winger that killed JFK.
The whole controversy about JFK was because people couldn’t accept the fact that a Commie did it.
Worse, in the context of the Cold War, Kennedy seemed to act as if he were compromised because his decisions in the Cuban Missile Crisis, the Bay of Pigs, and as to the Vietnam War were duplicitous and suggestive of covert disloyalty, even treason. And the Kennedys (JFK and RFK) were regarded as directly culpable in the death of Marilyn Monroe.
As it was, the CIA had the support and active assistance of elements of the Mafia, Cuban exiles on the CIA payroll, and J. Edgar Hoover. LBJ also backed the plot and cover-up and may have arranged a slush fund to finance it from several Texas oil men.
Thanks for posting. This thread has been a real eye-opener. I guess next time I’ll have to post the entire article (if allowed).
I believe the government had a decisive role in all of this
