Here in Memphis they hijack cars only after they have filled up with gasoline. Then they drive, thrash, and crash your car until 1/8 tank. Then they leave that car and carjacking another at another gas station.

Repeat. They don't even apply bail or charge them when caught. They use a gun to steal your car, too. Nothing.......
