A suspected serial killer has been arrested over the notorious Gilgo Beach murders in Long Island, The Post can confirm.
Rex Heuermann, 59, a married architect at a New York City firm, was caught after DNA from the hair of victim Megan Waterman matched that of his, taken by investigators from a discarded pizza crust in January.
The father-of-two — a former classmate of Hollywood actor Billy Baldwin — was arrested Thursday after cops had staked out his home on 1st Avenue in Massapequa Park, Long Island, and office in midtown Manhattan. His arrest is tied to the so-called “Gilgo Four,” women found wrapped in burlap within days of each other in late 2010, and not the other six who were later eyed as possibly being connected, the source said.

Just toooo many creepy details in this story. This guy is high on the Eww scale.
Wilbur Post
Not that it makes any evil person more or less guilty, however I’m sometimes curious about political party affiliation. I only scanned the article, however I didn’t notice any such info. Do we know?
how did they know it was his? do they really have a DNA database??
how did they know the hair was his? do they really have a DNA database??
Karl Rove.
I guess they got a sample from his pizza and compared it to the sample they got off the victim.
okay so they were surveiling him and got a DNA sample and then compared it.... makes sense now if thats what happened.
I heard many rumor they are taking DNA samples on all new borns now, but prior to 20-30 years ago I hardly think they have everyone’s at present.
Two things strike me-
One- LE says he is NOT connected to the other 10 murders on the beach, (haven’t revealed how they know) and
Two- how likely is it that he murdered 4 women in a brief time period and then stopped, quit cold-turkey and hasn’t killed in the last 10 years?
Apparently, a human hair was found in the burlap that one of murder victims, Megan Waterman, was wrapped in (2010). They were able to match the DNA from the hair found to DNA on the pizza crust. A surveillance team saw Heuermann throw out the pizza box in Manhattan in January of this year in a street trash receptacle, which they retrieved. They do not say why they were surveilling him.
this is absolutely shocking; he always kept his lawn mowed so nicely ...
“I read the whole article, they repeated that line at least 2 other times, you would think somebody would have caught that the 2nd or 3rd time.”
do much of this garbage is written by AI programs and never even properly edited before being published ...
“”They do not say why they were surveilling him.””
That’s where I’m lost....but your explanation helped close some of the holes.
I know they were all cold cases but I’m surprised that they still had evidence of a hair found in 2010 to match with someone else’s DNA 13 years later.
I still want to know what tipped them off to this guy..wonder why that’s not disclosed???
I forgot to thank you and I do thank you.....
You are welcome. I, too, want to know what tipped them off.
Ha ha! Funny you should say that. I searched his address and found the google street view. It’s the dumpiest house in the neighborhood. Like the shoemaker’s kids not having shoes, the architect lives in shambles. https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/105-1st-Ave-Massapequa-Park-NY-11762/31308271_zpid/
To his credit, George did do the new addition to the Guggenheim. Really didn’t take that long, either.
The unusual suspect.
The front is jacked up with 2x4’s.....
He has supposedly his own business - likely an office space in some fancy building.
More details of his life as a thief and tax evasion...plus. In daily mails latest.
