WHY DO WE STILL HAVE SCARS?
One of the greatest truths we can know in life is that God is always able and willing to forgive us for our shortcomings. All we have to do is ask for His forgiveness. And if God is willing, then we too, should forgive ourselves. Yet one of the greatest ironies concerning forgiveness is that the painful memories, the scars of our past, remain with us. We may wonder, "What's the sense in receiving forgiveness if the scars from the painful memory remain?" Maybe the question should be, "What goes through your mind when you are confronted with the scars of your forgiven past".
The answer to this question is found in Zephaniah 3:17, "The Lord your God is with you; His power gives you victory. The Lord will take delight in you, and in His love He will give you new life. He will sing and be joyful over you". It is God's desire to rejoice over you with pride! A minister humorously explained it like this: A proud parent always carries a picture of his child in his wallet and when given the opportunity will happily show the picture to anyone. So it is with God. God loves us so much and is so proud of us that He too, in a sense, carries a picture of us in His wallet and will gladly show it for any angel to see. I know that it is a funny notion to think that God really carries a wallet, but the minister used this exaggeration to illustrate the fact that God has caring thoughts about us. Zephaniah takes us a step further and says that when God looks upon us, He is so overcome by joy that He sings over us, the same way a mother sings over her newborn baby. So, what goes through your mind when you are confronted by the scars of past mistakes for which you have already received God's forgiveness? Instead of becoming sad and condemning yourself, take it as an opportunity to rejoice in the fact that God has forgiven you. Allow the scars of life to remind you that God is indeed rejoicing over you and is willing to empower you to live a life of joy and forgiveness. Allow the scars of your forgiven past to remind you that you are now the "apple of God's eye." Allow the scars of your past to be a spring board for you to rejoice in what God wants to do with your life in the here and now. And if you will listen closely enough, you will hear Him joyfully sing over you. LT Patrick Sturm, CHC, USNR |

It IS fun. LOL
One of Hubby’s buddies who was deployed to Iraq gave him a few Iraqi bills with SoDammed’s pic on them but I don’t know what he did with them. I’d forgotten about them until you mentioned them. They must still be over at the old house.

I’ll bet I know someone who’d ship you a few! *hint-hint* LOL!
Nice to know what they are. They look like the DQ “free blizzard” pogs which I have not redeemed yet.
Ok...I’d better go now that I learned something new. See y’all tomorrow!

I’ll bet I know someone who’d ship you a few! *hint-hint* LOL! They’re in my storage unit in Houston, but I can look for them next time I pop in there. I’m pretty sure I know which box (trunk) they’re in. I don’t know when that will be, but I’ll be glad to toss a handful in a small manila envelope and send them.

I haven’t been to DQ in quite a while so didn’t know they had something similar. I never heard of pogs at all until today. I reckon I’m not “with it”. LOL
Sleep well and be kind to your alarm in the morning. Catch ya tomorrow.

LOL! I have to admit that would be awesome. But I wouldn’t want you to put yourself out just for that. Things in storage aren’t always easy to find.
I don’t know why I think they’re so cool. They only recently showed up in the display case but they caught my attention, even though I didn’t know what they are. LOL

We sure did. It was a little bit warm but we had as great time and Gizmo did find some water to quench him off.
We had a power outage from the storm Friday night. It didn't last more than an hour though. We have storms coming in from Northern Oklahoma right now so we'll see what happens.

It did look like it was a little warm. Gizmo’s tongue was hanging halfway to his toenails. LOL I’ve seen it hang out farther, though, so it wasn’t too bad a day.
I didn’t have my computer on Friday night so didn’t know you had bad storms over there. I’ve noticed you have more heading your way now and I hope you can get through this round without losing power again.
They say we have a stormy afternoon and evening ahead, the worst hitting here around suppertime.

I hope he sticks too. We have a couple of other vets but the more, the merrier.
The rest of us are civilian but have had connections to the military in the past in one form or another. The main thing we have in common is respect and support for the military, and interest in the history.

My co-worker in Oklahoma said their “siren”, or whatever it is that gets them up and into shelters, went off Thursday (I think she said) in the middle of the night. Jump out of bed, grab the pets, and head for the shelter. Later in the the day her hubby told her “the rotation” (I expect you would understand) went right over their house. She said she’s really glad it hadn’t come down yet. She said they lost a bunch of trees.
