Last week, we learned from IRS whistleblower Gary Shapley that U.S. Attorney David Weiss told multiple witnesses that the DOJ had instructed him not to pursue charges against Hunter Biden in California and Washington, D.C., even though Weiss and Attorney General Merrick Garland had insisted publicly that Weiss had complete authority in his investigation.
Shapley’s claims have been confirmed by the New York Times.
“But in mid-2022, Mr. Weiss reached out to the top federal prosecutor in Washington, Matthew Graves, to ask his office to pursue charges and was rebuffed, according to Mr. Shapley’s testimony,” the New York Times reported on Tuesday. “A similar request to prosecutors in the Central District of California, which includes Los Angeles, was also rejected, Mr. Shapley testified. A second former I.R.S. official, who has not been identified, told House Republicans the same story. That episode was confirmed independently to The New York Times by a person with knowledge of the situation.”
Merrick Garland has publicly denied any interference in the investigation. “As I said at the outset, Mr. Weiss, who was appointed by President Trump as the U.S. attorney in Delaware and assigned this matter during the previous administration, would be permitted to continue his investigation and to make a decision to prosecute any way in which he wanted to and in any district in which he wanted to,” Garland claimed last week. “He was given complete authority to make all decisions on his own behalf.”
Shapley had named six witnesses who could corroborate that Weiss admitted he lacked full authority to charge Hunter Biden, but the New York Times report is the first independent confirmation of the claims.
Great, right? The New York Times has revealed that the allegations are, in fact, true. This means the media is actually doing its job

The New York Times’s confirmation of the whistleblower accusation was buried in the report. Literally. The paper doesn’t even mention the confirmation until the 21st paragraph of the article.
The paper verified that Garland interfered with the investigation, which means that if House Speaker Kevin McCarthy is true to his word, impeachment proceedings against Garland will begin soon. That’s a pretty big deal. But, what should have been the lede was buried deep down in the article.
Congratulation, NYT, you’ve done it again.
Now if it was a Republican who was inconvenienced by the "whistleblower accusation," we might have something to talk about.
There’s just one problem? Lemme guess...the problem is that it was all Trump’s fault.
.
The Problem is their mantra is - No one is above the Law.
.
Come on man, you're taking that out of context!
I often wonder why things aren’t a well-oiled, poverty and crime free machine in Democrat-only cities and states if their policies are correct. Once there’s no competition for votes at the ballot box where’s the incentive to fix things?
Journalists (cough) bury ledes all the time. It’s not their fault. They are not very bright. They spend tens of thousands and go into debt to learn to write at a sixth-grade level and ask the five W’s. Only a moron would do that.
.
Did you notice Hunter wanted $10 Milliion from China, and they were prepared to $5 Million.
And in the WhatsApp, Hunter wrote, let’s not quibble over Peanuts!
The entire media is censoring that part.
$5 Million is Peanuts to Biden’s Operation.
biden is all about the benjamins
benjamin biden
the evil love it when they are called incompetent
Mark
That’s how the Bidens roll, mm hmm.
As in it gives them cover for their actions? Good observation.
The reason, and the ONLY reason the NYT and other media are suddenly “doing their jobs” is that orders have come from on high that Joe has got to go.
I see a LOT of people asking what Garland knew.
I will clue you in to something that is 100% true about DOJ.
The DEPUTIES run the show with almost absolute authority. The most powerful person in DOJ is standing behind Garland in this press conference. Watch the body language.
I suppose its good theater and meat for the base to call Garland and bash him, but they are NOT calling the people who were in charge of this (Garland is the figurehead).
I know, it’s Hannity and I try to avoid him but watch the video of the press conference (link below) starting at the 3:40 mark until about the 4:45 mark. Go back and watch the entire press conference. There is a radical change in body language and watch her eyes in response to questions AND check out the side shuffle out of the blue. Watch her blink rate increase at the 4:40 mark.
This excerpt could be a training video for reactive eyes and involuntary shuffling (an unconscious “tell” of nervousness) to the specific answer that Weiss never requested special counsel status is the biggest thing to come out of this press conference. Garland appears genuinely indignant at the accusations against him or that he would be accused potentially of perjury. Compare the two yourself.
Weiss would have talked to her - not Garland. Garland rarely says “I” when talking about Weiss - it’s usually a 3rd party observer type statement about the “department”. Weiss has to go through the gatekeeper (her) and Garland only knows what she tells him.

For those interested in body language please note the unconscious nod at his “prepped” answers at the beginning of the clip above where he gives the canned answers. The fireworks begin when he is asked specifically about Weiss requesting special counsel status and being denied - a point where he earnestly disagrees and there is certainly no “nodding”.
Judge for yourself.
I call them “failed English majors” - they’re not good enough in their native language to secure that sinecure as a tenured English professor.
On Tuesday’s broadcast of “Hannity,” Harvard Law Professor Alan Dershowitz argued that the judge (who has to approve of Hunter Biden’s plea deal) needs to call AG Merrick Garland, Delaware-based US Atty David Weiss, and the six witnesses.
IRS whistleblower Gary Shapley’s legal team now say the aforementioned group have to corroborate Hunter’s statements before accepting the sweetheart plea deal.
Dershowitz said, “[T]he judge who is sentencing Hunter Biden..... and who has to approve of the plea deal..... must call Garland, must call Weiss, must call these six witnesses, and must say, “Look, we know you want the deal to go through. But I’m a judge, I represent the people of the United States of America.”
Dersh added: “The law provides that a judge need not accept a plea bargain agreed to by both sides if there is a problem here, and if he concludes, for example, that Weiss was denied the ability to investigate beyond Delaware, then the deal’s off. Because the deal probably ends any possibility of prosecution in the District of Columbia or in Los Angeles, and if those were foreclosed in violation of what Garland said would be available to Weiss, then the deal’s off, and you have to go back to square one, you have to conclude the investigation, and then you decide whether or not to make a plea bargain.”
“Right now, the judge should not accept this plea bargain without hearing from Garland, Weiss, and the six witnesses.”
