I haven’t taken my son to a ball game in ages, so we went to a game not long after opening day. I thought I’d treat him to decent third base tickets a few rows up from the field plus lunch before the game. It was a $500 outing! That was the very last pro game I will ever see.
To make matters worse, they had erected a gigantic net from the backstop fence to the outfield, so we had to watch the game through the mesh. It is modern times — ruin everybody’s experience to avoid a couple of fan injuries per year.
I go to high school baseball games in the area. $5 entrance fee and $7 meal deal at the concession stand; brat, chips and a drink. The kids are the Fall football and Winter wrestling talent pool as well as spring track. There are some really good games since Seniors are out to even the score for football and wrestling losses before they head out on life.
