One reason for the media giving so much coverage to the Smoky conditions, is that this is happening in New York City

Did anyone in the country, outside the West Coast, hear about the bad air quality in the Pacific NW (WA State) last year from -- ta-da -- Canadian wildfires. We had bad air quality for a couple of weeks.

Well of course the elites will ignore smoke in the Northwest. To them, most of the country between New York, DC, and California is just “Flyover Country.”
