Hot Air, The RINO GOPe site.
I believe that is it Trump’s nomination, if he wants it. However, for some reason, I have an intuition that he is not going to stay in the race. I have no idea why, exactly, he might withdraw, but it must depend on some at-present unknown future event. I think others have the same feeling, and all these candidates, like DeSantis, are positioning themselves for the possibility.
Enjoy peak DeSantis. He’ll be at 4% in two weeks.
He’s just a suicide bomber to damage Trump. Paid for by the Kochs, Murdochs, the SpaceX guy and the Bushes.
Cue RinoRepubic riding to the defense of Dom Trump.
"Trump has presided over 3 consecutive disastrous election cycles, and I for one don’t believe America can survive a fourth."
Sorry, but that is more like the “moron” quote. You attribute the lack of GOPe support, (outright opposition), for those who won their primaries, as Trump losses.
Not referring to this writer, but I think it is wonderful how those on the left, the politicians, the media, Hollywood, etc, are, in a magnanimous show of bi-partisan goodwill, telling us the best thing we can do is abandon Trump for... whomever.
Who can doubt that they have our best interests at heart when they warn that Trump cannot win?
I guess they are looking for the best candidate for our side to make it a fair fight and an even match.
“ I support him because he fights the big cultural battles that will define America’s future, and wins.”
What you call “big cultural battles” are rope-a-dope to get your eye off the important issues about which the two parties are working together against the interests of the nation.
We need a president to be a president, to accomplish, truly accomplish big things. We don't need an entertainer. Consider Trump's first four years, a lot of talk, some half assed roll-outs that too often got stopped by the courts before the ink dried, and lots unfinished with even more excuses. I sure don't want another four years of that.
Consider further that what Trump did ignored Congress, was executive orders, and as quickly as he was gone, they were gone.
The border opened, energy independence killed, and so forth.
What we need is a legislator, someone that leads building lasting laws to close the border, deport illegals, secure our energy independence, reign in cultural destruction, etc.
That is why I'm going with DeSantis. It is making lasting changes, codified in law. He knows how to do this, he is doing it. Some is even Trump's agenda. He's not an entertainer, he's actually even a veteran.
Give it some thought.
“Whoever the Republican candidate is in 2024, I will vote for them. Joe Biden is destroying this country, and I think Kamala Harris would become president at some point between 2025 and 2029. That is unthinkable.”
I think that is the money quote. I fear out country is so divided so much so that even the Republican vote will be divided and another Dem will be president. I don’t think Biden will make it to the end of this year, at least mentally - but someone will fill that slot and they will be equally horrible.
I appreciate everything Ron DeSantis is doing in Florida. I think his policy positions most closely lineup with mine of all the candidates. That said, I don’t know how he recovers from yesterday. Also, his speech was milquetoast and boring. I just don’t see how that can prevail in this political environment. He would have been best to wait for four years. may the best man win, but I just don’t think DeSantis can do with this election cycle. I love what he’s doing for Florida, but charisma seems to be lacking. I suppose we will see!
He’s basically where I’m at. I think Trump probably wins the nomination any way. But I will vote for DeSantis in the primary because I haven’t seen Trump say anything to attack the left in about 6 month. He spends all his time attacking DeSantis.
The Republican nominee needs to be someone who wins the nomination by fighting the left, not someone trying to win the nomination in order to fight the left.
All the people performing mental gymnastics on this site defending Trump are trying to justify him doing the latter, and it doesn’t work for me.
Is that what he was doing ? I thought it was more like strong-arming a Republican supermajority Legislature on abortion, gun control and Disney.
DeSantis won in the midterms when many failed because he put the ‘fear of God’ into democrats who usually do voter fraud.
(In Florida, voter fraud is traditionally done in the black community by precinct workers ‘voting the people who don’t show up to vote (which is where the ‘dead vote’ comes from..)
DeSantis even had some people arrested for voter fraud before the election.
People who doubt democrat voter fraud should look at the obvious - here’s an example of how insane they are in defense of ‘the cause’: 51 ‘intelligence’ goons threw their reputations away in order to swing the election to President Sniffer. The FBI did the same.. And people doubt at lower precinct levels it won’t happen?
We can’t just win elections that are blowouts - we need to win the ones we’re winning ... Anytime we’re polling wins but democrats’ pull it out - we need a full statistical investigation of the vote. Including talking to random people in precincts to see if they really voted.
If “strong-arming” is your interpretation of his accomplishing things most of us would agree are good, compare that to Trump that failed miserably at “strong-arming” Congress. No mass deporting illegals (if he was even in really support of that), no wall (couldn’t even get Republican congress to agree!), and so forth.
If one calls Desantis being dead in the water a race.
“Paid for by the Kochs, Murdochs, the SpaceX guy and the Bushes.”
Yes, they will all support DeSantis in the GOP primary and if he beats Trump will then endorse Puppet Biden in the general election.
This is the game they play.
I actually do support the state agency in Florida devoted to rooting out and prosecuting election crimes more than his various political stunts....but not even admitting that Trump was defrauded in 2020?
