Indiana has enacted a law requiring teachers to tell parents when students ask to be called by a new name or different pronoun. North Dakota has approved a law that lets public school teachers and state employees ignore using a transgender person's preferred pronoun.
And the latest such action came in Florida on Wednesday when Governor Ron DeSantis signed into law a bill that bans gender-affirming medical care such as puberty blockers or hormone therapy for transgender youths - a measure that joins the state's growing list of legislation that limits the rights of LGBTQ people.
This month's rush of bills, certain to attract court challenges, has become central to the Republican agenda in statehouses across the country and inflamed the so-called culture war in the United States that also encompasses abortion, gun rights and school curricula

It is not gender affirming care.
Yes but deep down they are thrilled this is a hot-button issue. More potential for youth to be drawn in.
This stuff should never be in the headlines.
Do you really think the majority of 18-25 year olds care about transgender, abortion maybe, but IMHO, transgender no.
Doctors who do these sex-change operations should have their licenses yanked.
But instead they are getting rich.
It’s only when Republicans do it is it “inflammatory.”
Meanwhile, California, Colorado, Washington, etc. can make “trans safe zones” where kids can transition without even telling their parents and that’s apparently no big deal to our press.
The are males and females...XY and XX chromosomes...
They are NOT interchangeable, no matter what a person thinks or feels...
Every person is one or the other...That’s it...
Purpose of this article: Those mean, nasty Republicans are at it again, trying to hurt the children.

Of a most extreme and abusive nature. Can’t really abuse people much more than they are doing.
If the GOP wants to negate the abortion issue, use the transgender issue as a sword.
If you really care about women who have worked hard to earn awards and scholarships, then you will join us in opposing men in women’s sports.
It’s going to require an all-court press to turn back this demonic attack on humanity. The devil is determined to destroy humanity this time around and we are standing in his way. Sort of like Trump explaining his battle with the Communists Democrat Party that he stands in the way of the Commies coming for us.
If transgender is the hill the left wants to die on....let it be so.

Watched it (again) recently. Something that really stuck out that I wouldn’t have noticed twenty years ago was the scene where the kids are all saying the pledge of allegiance. Doubt that scene would make it today.

I never thought about that...You are right...It would not be filmed today...They’d rather show the kids cross-dressing or some such...
