An effort to restore the jobs and back pay of firefighters who lost their jobs for refusing or even criticizing the COVID-19 vaccine was defeated when four Senate Republicans joined with Democrats to defeat the measure.
Senators voted 54-45 against U.S. Senator Rand Paul’s (R-KY) “Support the Reinstatement of Trained and Effective Firefighters” amendment which “makes funding available to fire departments that terminated firefighters for refusing vaccination or voicing opposition to COVID-19 mandates only if they offer full reinstatement and backpay to those who lost their jobs.”
The amendment was considered as part of S.870, the Fire Grants and Safety Act, which helps local fire departments hire additional firefighters.
Along with every voting Senate Democrat, Republican senators Susan Collins (ME), Mitt Romney (UT), Mike Rounds (SD) and Lisa Murkowski (AK) voted against the amendment.
Every other Senate Republican voted in favor. California Democrat Dianne Feinstein, recovering at home from illness, did not vote.
“It seems bizarre and contradictory to provide financial support to increase fire department staffing when decisions were made to terminate trained and effective firefighters for no good reason. Firefighters tend to be young and fit, the very people who had the least to worry about COVID-19,” said Paul, before the vote.
“These people were never a threat to their communities. On the contrary, they served their communities bravely and made their neighbors safer. What was done to them, what was done to police, what was done to first responders was shameful and we should stand together to make sure it never happens again,” said Paul.
The usual suspects.
The facts of covid don’t matter. No one is allowed to disobey the govt. Even to save their own lives.
And this is precisely why WE Conservatives must form a legitimate alternative to the modern day WHIG Party that has BASTARDIZED the REPUBLICAN Party. No more Quislings!
Rounds. I guess he’s new to the typical Backstabbers RINO Club.
Disgraceful.
Don't know why I even bothered to look. More tools there than a Snap-on van.
The traitorous turncoats.
The trojan horses of the Republican Party - Pierre Delectable of course is amongst them.
“Rounds. I guess he’s new to the typical Backstabbers RINO Club.”
We should quit calling them RINOs and call them what they are... Communists.
Murky, in as a relief Democrat, makes her way from the bullpen.
At least two of those senators are from states that use RCV.
What a coinkydink.
More on RCV here...

Note the timing on the major push.
Since 2018...
The threats to our society are: Collins, Romney, Rounds, and Murky............
Why is it just firefighters?
The usual suspects
Who will challenge these ignorant clowns regarding the basis for this vote?
These guys and gals are the global communists.
There are also people like my sister in law the RN who just chose to quit a hospital in SC. She was fortunate that she was in the financial situation to do that. There were millions who were not and lived to regret it.
"These Four Republicans Voted To Deny Reinstatement To Firefighters Fired For Refusing COVID Vaccines"
FR: Never Accept the Premise of Your Opponent’s Argument
There's conflicting interests here. A part of the problem is that many authors with presumably good intentions are probably not aware of the federal government's constitutionally limited powers, and consequently write articles that inadvertently leave out constitutionally important considerations.
While I support the firefighters in principle, it remains that the states have never expressly constitutionally given the feds the specific power to tax and spend for such purposes, or to dictate remedies for such situations imo.
In other words, the four RINOs voted appropriately to kill the unconstitutional, vote-buying federal support of firefighters.
On the other hand, the RINOs blatantly ignored their oaths to protect and defend the Constitution when they probably supported the bill that appropriated the taxes that would have been used to support the firefighters if they had unconstitutionally voted yes on this bill.
What a mess! 8^P
