Whoopi Goldberg told her co-hosts Tuesday on ABC’s “The View” that “we need to know” what guns Americans own.
Goldberg said, “Why are we compromising? You know what I’m tired of? I’m tired of trying to find a way to justify your being able to keep 75 guns in your house. I’m tired of trying to figure out a way to say, listen, we have rules and regulations. The Constitution is very clear. Scalia changed the meaning of what the Constitution says. Scalia changed it.”
She continued, “I have to have a license to drive. It’s not a compromise. We don’t discuss it. You either get a license, or you go to jail. So to me, you want to have 7o or 11 guns. We need to know that. We need to know what you got. Because you are now being painted with the same swab all the people who are killing people left and right with legal guns. We need to know what you got.”

Sorry Whoopi, I really don’t know how many guns I own. I have inherited guns from three generations of collectors. I can count those hanging on the walls, and in the dresser next to my bed, but elsewhere in the house, in the safe, pistols in drawers, behind books on shelves and on top, hanging above closet doors. et c.; I haven’t counted. I’ve given a few away to step sons, lever action .30-30s and shot guns and cartridges, and there’s probably not seventy-five any more in the house. I’m not going to bother to count them. Would you care to come, or send the ATF to count them? I’m mildly curious to know. I’ve only defended myself from a home invasion once in my long life with a handgun (Ballester–Molina, wish I still had it but my Gold Cup Colt will have to do).
