Energy agency chief warns transition to renewables is way off track, issues warning on stranded assets

The global energy transition is off track to prevent the worst impact of the climate emergency, according to the head of the International Renewable Energy Agency, and a fundamental course correction is required to successfully pivot away from fossil fuels.

A report published by IRENA on Tuesday said an additional $35 trillion of investments in transitional technologies would be needed by 2030 to curb global heating to 1.5 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels.

To be sure, the burning of fossil fuels such as coal, oil and gas, is the chief driver of the climate crisis.

$35 trillion here, $35 trillion there, pretty soon you’re talking about real money. Did they put a dollar cost on maintaining and upgrading what we have already? No? I wonder why not?

“Well, at least they put a dollar figure on it. $35T”

That’s not even close. Just the batteries needed in the US comes out to about 5 times that number...and we’re only 10% of the world’s energy consumption, if that (China, of course, is FAR BEYOND our energy usage level).

“Our leaders are insane crooks.”

They are crooks, but they are FAR from insane - they are BRILLIANT. Insane people pushing what they’re pushing would be relegated to 1% of the vote in federal elections - but this bunch gets 50%, or close to it, in every election. We all know normal people who are sucked-in by them - and that is not easy to do, in fact it takes a BRILLIANT strategy, in work, without pause, for at least the past 50 years.

Not that there is a climate 'crisis'. But if there was one, I am sure the massive volcanic eruptions have nothing to do with it. It's just those SUV's. ( sarc )

Wouldn’t it be cheaper to just get rid of the International Renewable Energy Agency?
“The global energy transition is off track to prevent the worst impact of the climate emergency.. and a fundamental course correction is required to successfully pivot away from fossil fuels.”
The metaphors give everything away. The “transition” is not “off track” because it is not a train. The “worst impact” is what exactly? What is the “climate emergency”, it is no more real than the “french toast emergency”.

To be sure, the author is a retard. How does coal “drive” the climate crisis, which is not a car or truck. Thy string together the same worn out exaggerations.

The limestone in FL was formed from dead marine shellfish. It is up to 75’ above the current sea level. Ergo, the oceans will likely rise another 75’ during the current interglacial period -without any action by man.

“Wouldn’t it be cheaper to just get rid of the International Renewable Energy Agency?”

Of course, but why would that interest any of the Globalists, as they already have their money.

...and just yesterday, they reached a ‘compromise’ in Europe, where people can keep driving fossil fuel cars after 2035 PROVIDED that they only use ‘green’ fuel, and shutdown on any other fuel. So there you have it: Spend $180k on a car, and then $25/gallon for fuel, and you don’t have to plug your car in every night, in the middle of winter. For the Globalists, that cost is pocket change.

“[Limestone in FL] is up to 75’ above the current sea level. Ergo, the oceans will likely rise another 75’ ...”

Maybe that’s because the land mass has risen, not because the sea level has fallen.

Let's not forget about cow farts. They are a major contributing factor, as well.

They use the word “investment“ a lot. The returns are not great or more people would be putting their money there. Unfortunately tulip bulbs and Beanie Babies have a better rate of return.

“To be sure, the burning of fossil fuels such as coal, oil and gas, is the chief driver of the climate crisis.”

In other words, “I believe in one God, the maker of heaven and earth.”

You can’t deviate from the core beliefs. You might not be drawn and quartered, beheaded or burned at the stake, but you can be removed from social media and lose your job and the nice apartment on Park Avenue. If you expect to work as a journalist you have to include the proper worship words.
