Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp Rules Out 2024 Bid; Keeps ‘Open Mind’ About Endorsing Primary Candidate

Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp (R) will not run for president in 2024 and is waiting to see how the Republican primary field shakes out before throwing his support behind a candidate.

Kemp revealed his plans to stay out of the race in a recent Wall Street Journal interview after his name had been floated in some polls and the outlet had published an opinion piece by consultant Scott Wescott declaring Kemp a “logical choice” for the job.

Kemp, a popular governor who has gained national prominence in recent years, also told the WSJ he is “keeping an open mind” about whom he might endorse:

"I have a great relationship with Pence and a really good relationship with DeSantis. Chris Christie came and campaigned for us multiple times, along with a lot of other governors. I know Tim Scott real well. Nikki Haley came and campaigned for us. I’ve known her over the years, and I’ve gotten to meet [Mike] Pompeo a couple of times. So I’m kind of like everybody else, I’m just seeing how things are playing out and keeping an open mind."

Asked about former President Donald Trump, the frontrunner of the three declared candidates in the GOP primary, Kemp said, “Yeah, I haven’t heard from Trump.”

Kemp is campaigning with DeSantis on Thursday in Georgia.

Ron DeSantis is appearing here next Thursday, which follows on campaign rallies over the last few years by Kelly Loeffler, Herschel Walker and Brian Kemp. It has sorta become the go-to spot for Republicans campaigning in metro Atlanta.https://t.co/r9jwufktut— Jonathan Raymond (@jisaacraymond) March 24, 2023

Kemp has decided to remain in Georgia to make sure he can rig the election in Georgia.

Does this traitorous RINO really think people will vote for him?

Seems like he did pretty well in the last election, unlike Trump's hand-picked candidate Herschel Walker - so yeah, he might think people will vote for him.

He and the corporate media thought he was a big shot in November and could take it national, but Kemp could only muster <1% in the polls. Same with Young Kin.

Surprised he’s even thinking about it after they killed his prospective son-in-law.

The pantywaists are declining because they know it’d be a lost cause.

They’d get one vote...their own.

If Dominion is counting the votes, it doesn't matter what the people think.

Kemp’s mind is so “open” his brain fell out.

As a Georgian, I can see why. I’d NEVER vote for him, period. Sleazy legislature, lying politician who let that Rattburger sign a consent agreement with Democrats on absentee ballots. I don’t care if he did sign the open carry law. It never affected me anyway.

He got 53.4 percent of the vote in Georgia when he ran for re-election. Trump got 49.24 percent of the vote in Georgia when he ran for re-election.

Kelly Loeffler is ANOTHER reason why I’d never vote for him. She BOUGHT that Senate seat by paying the GA Republican Party a heap big donation (most likely to pay off Kemp’s campaign debt.)

She was/is no more a Georgian who had her finger on the pulse of Georgia than some monkey over at the Yerkes Primate Center in Emory.. No wonder she lost to that pimp in a $2000 suit.

That’s an anomaly because most Georgians were mainly concerned about Fat Stacy getting the Governorship.

“..lying politician who let that Rattburger sign a consent agreement with Democrats on absentee ballots.”

Yep, absolutely disappointed and surprised Rattburger is still in office. I couldn’t believe he survived the primary.

However, Kemp is not Rattburger’s boss. Kemp can’t tell Rattburger what to do. Both are Constituional Officers and have their duties spelled out in the GA Constitution. Kemp catches a lot of flack for things he can’t control.

Loeffler was the most conservative MAGA Republican in the Senate. The first thing she did when she got into the Senate was stand up on the Senate floor and crush Mitt Romney for voting to impeach Trump. Predictably, Free Republic Assistant Democrats show up and are still bashing good Republicans like Loeffler.
